What Koodo’s announced move means—and what is confirmed
Koodo’s official switching page describes a way for customers to choose TELUS service. It does not establish that Koodo is automatically moving customers, that anyone must leave Koodo, or that a separate new program has particular launch dates, eligibility rules, discounts, or deadlines. Treat any such terms as unconfirmed unless they appear in the offer made directly to you.
The page invites customers to compare data, phones, family discounts, and network. Its descriptions of Koodo and TELUS plans are starting points, not proof that a TELUS plan will be cheaper or better for your needs. Check the current terms and your personalized offer.
How to switch from Koodo to TELUS
Koodo outlines online, in-store, and phone options. For online signup, expect to select a plan and either a phone or bring your own device (BYOD), create a TELUS profile, activate service, and transfer your number during activation. Koodo says to have a valid payment card and driver’s licence available for the online process.

- Compare your options. Review the TELUS plan’s monthly price and terms alongside your current Koodo plan.
- Choose online, in store, or by phone. The online option is described on Koodo’s switching page; the page also lists in-store and phone channels.
- Select a phone and plan. You can choose a new phone or BYOD. Confirm with TELUS that your specific device is compatible with the service and plan you want; the general switching information does not verify every device.
- Create the account and activate. For online signup, create a TELUS profile and follow the activation instructions when your phone and new SIM arrive.
- Transfer your number during activation. Koodo describes number transfer as part of activation. Follow the instructions provided for your account rather than assuming the number moves automatically.
Can you keep your phone number or bring your own phone?
Koodo’s switching information supports transferring your number during activation and choosing BYOD instead of buying a new phone. It does not confirm compatibility for every device, so check your exact phone and plan with TELUS before placing an order. The page describes the number-transfer step but does not spell out every account-specific requirement.
Can a Koodo Tab balance move to TELUS?
Koodo says eligible Tab and Tab Bonus balances can convert to TELUS Easy Payment and Device Discount balances. The carryover is conditional, not automatic. According to Koodo’s Tab and cancellation guidance, the stated requirements include:

- The TELUS plan must maintain the minimum monthly rate-plan spend that applied to the Koodo Tab.

Confirm your remaining balance and the exact conditions with Koodo or TELUS before starting the switch. The general page does not determine whether a particular account or balance qualifies.
How to compare the real cost and plan features
Make the decision using the terms attached to your own accounts and offer. Koodo’s plan page discusses rollover data on selected Koodo Pick Your Perk plans and Shock-Free data; it describes TELUS plans as including unlimited data and a five-year Plan Price Lock. Those are page-level descriptions, not a guarantee that every current plan includes the same features or that your price will be lower. Verify the details in the current plan terms.

- Data rules: Check the allowance, whether unused data rolls over on the specific Koodo plan, and the speed or other terms that apply to TELUS data after any high-speed allowance.
- Device costs: Decide whether BYOD works for you, whether you want a new phone, and whether your Koodo Tab balance can carry over under the stated conditions.
- Household and coverage: Compare any family discounts and check coverage where you use your phone. General network claims cannot establish service quality at your home, workplace, or regular travel locations.
Prepaid customers have a separate switching path
Koodo describes a separate Fast Switch route for moving from Koodo Prepaid to TELUS Postpaid. Its prepaid-to-monthly help page says to create a new My TELUS account using the same email address associated with the Koodo Prepaid account so any remaining prepaid balance credits can be applied correctly. This prepaid process is distinct from the general postpaid Koodo-to-TELUS route.
