No—you can’t sell a Steam profile badge itself. A badge is an icon tied to your Steam account. You may be able to sell the trading cards used to craft it, or certain cosmetic rewards from crafting, through the Steam Community Market. Proceeds from Market sales go to your Steam Wallet, not to a cash account.
What a Steam badge is—and why it isn’t for sale
Steam describes a badge as a profile icon tied to your account. Badges can represent trading-card sets you have collected or participation in an event. For a card badge, you craft the badge by collecting and crafting a complete set of that game’s cards; the badge is the resulting profile item, not a separate inventory item listed on the Community Market. Steam’s Trading Cards FAQ explains the distinction.

Which related items you may be able to sell
| Item | What it is | Can you sell it on the Community Market? |
|---|---|---|
| Profile badge | An account-tied icon displayed on your profile. | No. It is not a separate Market inventory item. |
| Trading card | A digital inventory item that can be used to craft a badge. | Steam says cards can be bought and sold on the Market, or traded with other users, subject to item and account restrictions. |
| Crafting reward | Some badge crafts award cosmetic items, such as emoticons and profile backgrounds. | Steam says these rewards can be traded or sold when eligible. |
These distinctions apply whether you mean a card-set badge or an event-related badge: the badge itself is not the saleable item. For seasonal sale cards specifically, Steam says they stop being tradable and marketable 30 days after the sale ends. That deadline applies to those seasonal cards; it should not be assumed for every Steam item. Steam’s Sale Trading Cards & Badge FAQ covers those cards and crafting rewards.
How to check whether a card or reward can be listed
- Open your Steam inventory and select the specific card or cosmetic reward.
- Check the item’s details for its current trading or Community Market listing eligibility. Item restrictions can differ, so do not assume that every card or reward is marketable.
- Check your account’s eligibility as well. Steam may apply account restrictions that prevent a listing even when an item is otherwise marketable.
- If the item is eligible, use the Community Market listing flow and review the displayed proceeds before confirming. Steam’s Community Market FAQ describes sales as crediting Steam Wallet funds.
What happens to the money from a sale?
Community Market sale proceeds are credited to your Steam Wallet. They are not a cash payout, and Steam’s trading guidance says Wallet funds cannot be transferred in Steam trades. So selling cards or eligible crafting rewards is a way to get Steam Wallet credit, not a way to cash out the badge’s value. Steam’s Recommended Trading Practices also warns against money-related trades and deceptive arrangements involving Market purchases.
