Usually, you cannot order cigarettes through DoorDash’s consumer Marketplace. DoorDash says merchants may not directly sell tobacco products there. In some places where tobacco delivery is legal, a merchant with a tobacco-specific DoorDash agreement may arrange delivery of tobacco a customer purchased through the merchant’s own channel or another platform. That is a limited exception, not a general DoorDash cigarette-ordering option.
Does DoorDash sell cigarettes on its Marketplace?
No. DoorDash’s U.S. merchant guidance specifically includes cigarettes among products merchants cannot directly sell through the consumer-facing Marketplace. DoorDash’s Dasher guidance states that merchants cannot directly sell tobacco products, e-cigarettes, or similar products on that platform.
This restriction concerns buying through DoorDash Marketplace. It does not rule out every delivery involving DoorDash: a separate, conditional arrangement may allow a Dasher to deliver tobacco that a customer bought elsewhere.
When can a Dasher deliver tobacco bought elsewhere?
DoorDash says that, in some states, provinces, and territories where tobacco delivery is lawful, a merchant with a tobacco-specific DoorDash agreement may request a Dasher to deliver tobacco purchased directly from that merchant through its own channel or through another platform. The policy does not identify participating merchants or confirm availability in any particular city.

So the practical answer depends on both local law and whether a qualifying merchant actually offers this arrangement. A merchant’s use of DoorDash for delivery does not mean cigarettes can be added to a DoorDash Marketplace order.
What age and ID checks apply?
For the U.S. tobacco-delivery guidance, the recipient must be at least 21. The Dasher must inspect valid photo identification showing the recipient’s date of birth every time—even if the recipient appears old enough. DoorDash’s U.S. consumer terms also require the recipient of an age-restricted delivery to be legally old enough, physically present, and able to show valid government-issued ID.

If the physical ID check fails or the app prompts a scan that cannot be completed, the Dasher should not hand over the tobacco; DoorDash’s guidance says it should be returned to the merchant. A Dasher should also decline a delivery if there is doubt about the ID, recipient, or whether delivery to the location is appropriate.

Can you ask a Dasher to add cigarettes to an order?
No. DoorDash instructs Dashers to decline requests to add tobacco by text, direct message, or phone. Starting a tobacco delivery outside the normal ordering process can violate policy and bypass required age checks or other safeguards. Use only an ordering route the merchant and DoorDash actually authorize; do not treat a message to the Dasher as a workaround.

DoorDash’s U.S. consumer terms warn that a failed age-restricted delivery may be nonrefundable, potentially including other items in the order, and that a nonrefundable restocking fee may apply. These are possible outcomes described in the terms, not a guarantee that every failed delivery will be handled the same way.

How to check whether delivery is available where you live
- Check whether a local tobacco merchant offers delivery of an order placed through its own channel or another platform; DoorDash Marketplace itself does not list cigarettes for direct sale.
- Ask the merchant whether it has the tobacco-specific DoorDash arrangement and whether delivery is lawful to your address.
- Be prepared to receive the order in person and present valid government-issued photo ID that verifies your age.
DoorDash’s policy explains the conditions for a limited merchant-arranged delivery, but it does not name local participants. Without a city and a participating merchant, availability cannot be confirmed.
