Yes. Developers can use Cerebras-hosted inference through Cerebras Inference Cloud without buying Cerebras hardware. The usual route is to create an account, get an API key, and choose the trial or a paid plan. You can also access Cerebras models through listed partner platforms, including AWS Marketplace, OpenRouter, Hugging Face, and Vercel.
How do I get a Cerebras API key?
-
Go to Cerebras Inference Cloud and choose the official “Get API Key” or “Get a free trial” entry point.
-
Review the live pricing and trial terms before adding payment details. Cerebras currently says that adding a valid payment method makes a one-time $5 promotional credit available. It expires 30 days after activation. Cerebras says the account is not automatically charged or enrolled in paid use; API and Playground access pause when the credit expires or runs out unless you separately buy PayGo credits.
-
Create an API key and follow the Inference SDK documentation to connect an application. Cerebras describes its API as OpenAI-compatible and says adapting an application can take two code changes. That is the vendor’s setup description, not a guarantee that every application or feature will work unchanged.

Choose a plan that matches your workload. Cerebras positions Developer for development, evaluation, and experimentation, and says it is not intended for production. Its Enterprise offering is positioned for production use.
Is Cerebras free to use?
The trial is limited, not an ongoing free inference allowance. Cerebras’ pricing page currently describes a one-time $5 promotional credit after account creation and addition of a valid payment method. The credit expires 30 days after activation; when it expires or is exhausted, access pauses unless you separately purchase PayGo credits. Check the live pricing page for current conditions before signing up, since promotional terms can change.

The paid Developer option is self-service, pay-per-token usage. Cerebras’ current inference page says users can add funds starting at $10 and receive higher rate limits than on the free tier. Model-specific rates and terms can change, so consult the live pages rather than relying on older announcements.
Which Cerebras plan is appropriate?
| Option | Best fit | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Trial | Initial evaluation | One-time $5 promotional credit under the current pricing-page terms; valid payment method required and credit expires 30 days after activation. |
| Developer | Development, evaluation, and experimentation | Self-service pay-per-token usage; current inference page says funds can be added starting at $10. Cerebras says this tier is not intended for production. |
| Enterprise | Production workloads | Contact-sales option. Cerebras lists production-ready capacity, higher rate limits, latency options, dedicated queue priority, custom weights, uptime guarantees, and dedicated support, subject to agreement and availability. |
For production, assess the capacity, rate limits, latency, support, customization, and service commitments your application needs; confirm the actual terms with Cerebras before deployment.

Can I use Cerebras through another platform?
Cerebras lists API routes through AWS Marketplace, OpenRouter, Hugging Face, and Vercel. These can suit developers already working in those ecosystems, but availability and conditions may differ by provider. Before choosing a route, compare the models offered, billing, rate limits, support, production capacity, and applicable terms with direct Cloud access.
Which Cerebras developer documentation should I use?
-
Inference SDK: for building applications that use hosted large language model inference.
-
Cerebras PyTorch and ModelZoo: for training and fine-tuning workflows.
-
Lower-level SDK: for custom kernels and high-performance computing applications.

These are distinct paths: an application calling hosted inference does not need to begin with training or low-level kernel development.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should developers verify before relying on the service?
-
Check current pricing, supported models, rate limits, and trial rules on the live Cerebras pages; these details can change.
-
Confirm whether the Developer tier’s experimentation focus meets your needs. Do not assume it provides production capacity or service commitments.
-
If using a partner, verify that provider’s current model availability, billing arrangement, limits, and terms.
