What did John Koudounis say about Bitcoin reaching $1 million?
At a Bitcoin MENA panel in Abu Dhabi, Koudounis was asked about Bitcoin’s value in five years. GreekReporter.com reported on December 11, 2025, that he replied, “I can see it at one million.” The outlet presented that remark as a forecast that Bitcoin could reach $1 million by 2030. At a Bitcoin 2026 panel in Las Vegas on April 28, 2026, Koudounis clarified the timing: “I don’t know if it’s 2030. I don’t know if it’s 2031.” He added, “But I absolutely believe it gets there.” The official Bitcoin 2026 panel transcript therefore supports a long-term $1 million target, not a confident claim that Bitcoin will reach it by a specific year.

No. The statements establish Koudounis’s view, not a future result. Neither the event account nor the panel transcript independently demonstrates that Bitcoin will reach $1 million, sets out a probability for that outcome, or verifies when it might happen. His later remarks explicitly leave open whether the target arrives in 2030 or 2031.

It is most accurate to describe this as Koudounis’s bullish price target, with an uncertain timeline. A CEO’s forecast is an opinion; it should not be treated as a guarantee or as evidence that an investment will rise.

Koudounis leads Calamos Investments, whose official biography and company materials describe a suite of downside-protected Bitcoin ETFs. In a July 2025 release, Calamos described three strategies with 100%, 90%, and 80% downside-protection levels over a one-year period.

Those figures describe the structures as Calamos presented them; they do not independently establish how a fund will perform or whether it is suitable for a particular investor. A protection level and period are not a substitute for reviewing current fund documents and terms. The cited company material does not provide enough current detail to compare the strategies fully, including fees, eligibility, liquidity, tax treatment, upside limits, and all relevant terms.

What personal-finance readers should take from the forecast
- Keep the attribution attached: the $1 million target is Koudounis’s belief, as reported from the 2025 Abu Dhabi panel and reiterated with timing uncertainty at a 2026 panel.
- Do not turn the target into a plan: a forecast does not establish a likely return, a dependable date, or an appropriate allocation for your finances.
- Assess the exposure, not just the headline: direct Bitcoin ownership and an ETF are different ways to gain exposure. A strategy with stated downside protection also has terms and potential trade-offs that need separate review.
