CAE officially inaugurated its new aerospace and defence complex in Bangalore, now commonly called Bengaluru, on 11 February 2011. The company said the site near Bengaluru International Airport brought together its India headquarters and most of its India-based employees, alongside pilot training, defence training-system development and simulator software work.

CAE’s announcement dated 11 February 2011 described the inauguration of a new complex in Bangalore, India. The release positioned it as a combined corporate, training and engineering site—not an aircraft manufacturing plant.
CAE said the complex was near Bengaluru International Airport and housed the company’s India headquarters and the majority of its employees based in India.

Civil aviation pilot training
The complex included CAE’s Bangalore aviation training centre. CAE said pilots from Indian airlines including Air India, Go Air, IndiGo, Kingfisher Airlines and SpiceJet trained there, along with commercial pilots of the Indian Air Force.
Indian Defence Review described the centre as India’s first independent aviation training centre. That is the secondary publication’s characterization; CAE’s announcement does not establish the superlative.

Defence training-system development
CAE said it was developing training systems for India’s defence forces at the complex. This refers to training-system development, not to manufacturing aircraft.
Simulator software
The company also said the site supported software development for CAE simulators, adding an engineering role to its corporate and training functions.

What is known about CAE in India today
CAE’s current India page describes capabilities in Bengaluru that include modelling and simulation software, real-time systems and simulation-based defence training systems. This provides present-day company context, but it does not establish whether the specific complex inaugurated in 2011 remains in use, or whether its operations and footprint are unchanged.
