A couple from Bunbury claimed a $1 million Division One prize in Lotterywest’s Millionaire Medley after buying their ticket during a family visit to Mandurah. Their son was getting a haircut when the winner chose to buy a ticket rather than wait.
Where the winning ticket was bought
The couple, who are from Bunbury, bought the winning ticket at Lakers News in Lakelands while visiting Mandurah with their family. Lotterywest reported the win on 27 May 2025, after the couple visited its headquarters to claim the prize. Lotterywest’s announcement describes it as a $1 million Division One Millionaire Medley win.
Why she bought a ticket
The winner said she bought the ticket instead of sitting and waiting while her son had his haircut. She also described a habit of visiting Lotterywest retailers when travelling somewhere new: “If I ever travel to a unique or different area, I’ll visit a Lotterywest retailer,” she said.
That account explains the circumstances of this particular purchase; it does not show that buying a ticket while travelling, or any other purchase habit, improves the chance of winning.

What Lotterywest reported about other WA winners
In the same 27 May 2025 announcement, Lotterywest spokesperson James Mooney said that, in a little more than a week, the organisation had created four new WA millionaires through Saturday Lotto and Millionaire Medley.
