A 2025 Spudshed competition document also lists a 130 g tub, but neither source confirms that it is stocked now, in October 2026.
Is YoGo Dirt Dessert back?
PerthNow reported on 29 August 2024 that Brownes had announced the dessert’s return to stores the following day. Spudshed’s 2025 competition terms later listed “BROWNES YOGO DIRT DESSERT 130G.” These are evidence of a return announcement and a subsequent product listing—not proof of current stock at any retailer. Brownes’ Yogo and Desserts page provides general product-category information but does not establish whether Dirt Dessert is currently available.
For a current purchase, check with local retailers directly. The available reports and listing do not establish live stock in October 2026.
Why was YoGo Dirt Dessert discontinued?
The reports describe a series of practical production obstacles, rather than a single problem that was solved simply by finding marshmallows.

The 2018 marshmallow-supplier problem
In July 2018, Brownes said it needed a new marshmallow supplier to bring the product back. CEO Tony Girgis asked fans to encourage supermarkets to commit to stocking it, arguing that retailer commitments could help the company meet ingredient-supplier demand. PerthNow reported that more than 1,100 people had signed a petition and close to 1,800 supported a Facebook page at the time. The same report attributed peak weekly consumption of 12,000 tubs to Western Australians; it did not provide an underlying sales dataset.
Girgis’s appeal was explicit: “Dirt Dessert fans need to now rally the supermarkets to commit to putting Dirt Dessert back on shelves so we can meet ingredient supplier demand.”

Additional manufacturing barriers reported in 2024
A March 2024 report said Brownes had previously sold the machine used to make the dessert and could not make the cookie crumble at its Balcatta facility, which had become gluten- and wheat-allergen free except for milk. It also reported that the original marshmallow provider was no longer in business. Those details help explain why a revival involved more than replacing one supplier; the sources do not specify how Brownes addressed each obstacle before the return announcement.
When was it discontinued?
PerthNow’s 2018 article says the product was discontinued in 2013, while its 2024 return report says 2012. The reports conflict, and the available evidence does not resolve which year is correct. It is more accurate to preserve that discrepancy than to state one year as settled fact.

What was in YoGo Dirt Dessert?
The 2024 description presents it as a crumble “dirt” base with marshmallows covered in chocolate Yogo. A March 2024 report similarly describes chocolate crumble and soft, gooey marshmallows beneath the chocolate Yogo. The reports do not provide a full branded-product ingredient list.

Spudshed published a “DIY Yogo Dirt Dessert” recipe using Brownes Dairy Yogo Chocolate Dessert, crushed Arnott’s Choc Ripple biscuits, and chopped pink and white marshmallows.
