Yes—Brownes Yogo Dirt Dessert returned in 2024. The relaunch was announced in August, with PerthNow reporting that it would arrive at Spud Shed the following day and be exclusive to the retailer for its first four weeks. That is historical launch information, not proof of where it is stocked today.
When did Yogo Dirt Dessert come back?
Brownes announced the return on 29 August 2024, and PerthNow reported that the product would reach stores on Friday, 30 August. The initial four-week exclusive retail arrangement was with Spud Shed. PerthNow’s relaunch report establishes that launch plan; it does not establish that the exclusivity continued after those four weeks.
The return followed years of fan appeals. In March 2024, Brownes said it had been working on the recipe and trying to bring the dessert back. Earlier reporting described obstacles including the sale of the original production machine, the Balcatta factory’s gluten- and wheat-allergen controls, and the loss of the original marshmallow supplier. The sources do not specify exactly how Brownes addressed those production challenges for the relaunch. PerthNow’s March 2024 report covered the work underway before the announcement.
Where can you buy it now?
The sources confirm the 2024 Spud Shed launch, but they do not establish current stock, current distribution or nationwide availability as of October 2026. A Spud Shed competition inventory document from 2025 listed “BROWNES YOGO DIRT DESSERT 130G”; that confirms a product listing in that document, not that a store has it on shelves today. The 2025 Spud Shed terms and product inventory is the dated listing.

If you are looking for a tub, check directly with a nearby retailer or Brownes for current availability rather than relying on the original four-week launch arrangement or the later inventory listing.
What was in Yogo Dirt Dessert?
PerthNow described it as chocolate Yogo with a chocolate-crumble “dirt” layer and soft marshmallows. The product’s return was significant to fans who remembered that combination, but the reporting does not provide a full commercial ingredient list or nutritional panel.

The discontinuation date and explanation vary across coverage. PerthNow’s 2024 reports said the dessert was discontinued in 2012 because its marshmallow supplier went out of business; a 2018 report said it was discontinued in 2013 because of poor sales. The safest summary is that it disappeared in the early 2010s, with the exact year and reason differing by report. The 2018 story also reported a peak of 12,000 tubs a week, without publishing an underlying sales dataset. PerthNow’s 2018 account contains that earlier history.
Can you make a version at home?
Yes. Spud Shed published a DIY approximation, not Brownes’ official commercial recipe. It calls for chocolate Yogo, crushed Arnott’s Choc Ripple biscuits and chopped pink and white marshmallows from The So Soft Marshmallow Co. Spud Shed’s recipe sheet says to combine the ingredients and serve immediately or refrigerate for about two hours; its image is illustrative and the finished appearance may vary.
