Those figures use different periods and measures, so they do not establish a definitive market-share leader. For your own trip, the better airline is the one that offers the right nonstop schedule and total fare—including the bags, seat and flexibility you need.
What the latest figures say about scale
The latest full-year figures located are easyJet’s financial year ended 30 September 2025 and British Airways’ calendar year 2025, described by BA chief executive Sean Doyle on 27 February 2026. They indicate scale, but they are company-reported figures with different reporting periods and contexts—not a harmonized market-share comparison.

The network counts describe different things: routes are city-pair services, while destinations are places served. They cannot be compared as though they use the same unit. Nor should the profit figures be ranked at face value: operating profit and headline profit before tax are different accounting measures and scopes.
easyJet’s FY2025 report also records 104.0 million seats, a 90% load factor, and £10,106 million total revenue. These figures add context to the airline’s reported passenger scale; they do not show how many travelers would choose easyJet over BA on any particular route.

Does passenger volume mean easyJet dominates?
By the reported annual passenger/customer counts above, easyJet carried more people. That is a useful answer if “dominates” means passenger volume, but it is not proof that easyJet has the largest share of the UK aviation market: the figures cover different reporting periods and definitions, and do not provide a like-for-like market-share calculation.
For additional UK operating context, easyJet said that on 1 September 2026 it carried more than 343,000 passengers on over 2,000 flights, its busiest day on record. It also describes its UK operation as 22 airports, more than 650 UK routes and 139 destinations from the UK. These are easyJet’s company claims, not independently audited, directly comparable figures for BA. Source

Is British Airways better than easyJet?
“Better” depends on what the trip requires. BA reported service to 183 destinations in 2025 and offers a broader long-haul proposition; easyJet’s low-cost operation may suit travelers whose priority is a convenient nonstop on the route they need. Neither passenger totals nor network counts settle which airline is best for an individual itinerary.

Start with the route and schedule
- Check whether either airline serves your origin and destination nonstop on your travel dates.
- Compare departure and arrival times, airport locations, and any connection required. A convenient direct flight can be more valuable than a nominally broader network.
- If you need to connect onward, compare the full itinerary available to you rather than treating a destination count as evidence of a useful connection.
Compare the actual fare, not the headline fare
easyJet’s Standard fare includes one small underseat cabin bag, up to 45 × 36 × 20 cm. Hold luggage and reserved seats can be added. Its official fare information describes Inclusive Plus as including a 23 kg hold bag and a large cabin bag, among other benefits; availability and booking conditions apply. easyJet fare options
BA allows a hand bag up to 40 × 30 × 15 cm and a cabin bag up to 56 × 45 × 25 cm, including on Economy Basic. Basic does not include checked baggage; the published checked-bag allowance for an Economy fare that includes one is one bag up to 23 kg. Allowances can differ by cabin and membership tier. To compare what you will actually pay, price the fare with the checked bag, cabin baggage and seat selection you need, then check the change and cancellation terms for that fare. No route-specific fare prices establish that either airline is cheaper overall. A small cabin bag that meets one airline’s published maximum may exceed the other’s, so check the precise allowance before buying or packing.
Check flexibility for the fare you would book
Do not assume that a carrier-wide label such as “low-cost” or “full-service” tells you what changes are permitted. Review the fare-specific change and cancellation rules for your chosen route and booking, and compare the cost of the flexibility you need.

Which airline is more punctual?
BA’s CEO reported that 82% of BA mainline flights departed within 15 minutes in 2025, calling it the airline’s best operational performance since 2011. He also said the figure was up from 73% in 2024. This is BA’s reported measure, not an independent comparison with easyJet. BA’s 2025 performance message
The available figures do not establish which airline is more punctual. A fair head-to-head would require the same period, carrier scope and definition of punctuality for both airlines.
How to choose for your trip
- Search your exact route and dates. Confirm which airline operates a nonstop flight and whether its schedule works for you.
- Build your real trip price. Add the baggage and seat choices you need; compare the resulting totals, not just the starting fare.
- Check the rules you may use. Read the selected fare’s change and cancellation terms before booking.
- Weigh convenience against the itinerary. Consider airport location, flight timing, connections and the cost—in money and time—of any alternative.
The airline with the lower headline fare is not necessarily cheaper once you add the services you need. Likewise, a larger reported passenger count does not make an airline the better choice for a route it does not serve at a useful time.
