Bristol City’s 2026/27 wage bill and highest-paid player are not established by a single official public figure. SalaryLeaks estimates the club’s bill at £11.6 million including bonuses and names Emil Riis as the top earner on £1 million a year. Capology estimates £15.938 million in fixed gross wages, excluding bonuses, and names Luke McNally at £1.3 million a year. These are estimates, and the sources do not reconcile their differences.
What is Bristol City’s estimated wage bill for 2026/27?
The two current-season trackers report different totals and use different bonus treatments:
| Source | 2026/27 wage-bill estimate | Bonus treatment |
|---|---|---|
| SalaryLeaks | £11.6 million | Includes bonuses |
| Capology | £15.938 million in fixed gross wages | Excludes bonuses |
The figures are estimates, not an official Bristol City payroll disclosure or verified contract amounts. Differences in scope or definitions may account for some of the gap, but neither source provides a reconciliation, so the totals should not be treated as directly equivalent.
Who is Bristol City’s highest-paid player?
The answer also depends on which tracker is used. SalaryLeaks names Emil Riis at an estimated £1 million a year for 2026/27; Capology names Luke McNally at an estimated £1.3 million a year. The available estimates conflict, so neither can be presented as a confirmed top earner.

What do Bristol City’s filed accounts show?
The latest Companies House accounts for Bristol City Football Club Limited are for the year ended 30 June 2025 and were filed on 2 January 2026. Those accounts do not establish the club’s 2026/27 first-team payroll.
Salary Sport’s secondary account data reports £36 million in staff costs and £31,810,824 in wages and salaries for 2024/25. These are club-level accounting categories, not a verified first-team-only salary total. They cover a different period and scope from the current-season tracker estimates, so they should not be used as a direct comparison or substitute.

How does the estimate compare with 2025/26?
For historical context only, SalaryLeaks’ archived 2025/26 page estimated first-team salaries at £16.7 million and listed Neto Borges at £25,000 a week, or £1.3 million annually. That prior-season estimate does not establish the current bill or current highest earner.
