Ripple says it will provide multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financing services to funds managed by Brevan Howard affiliates. Announced October 6, 2026, the expanded relationship does not specify which funds or instruments are included, when onboarding will begin, or the agreement’s financial terms.
What Ripple Prime will do for Brevan Howard
Ripple’s announcement says Ripple Prime will provide prime brokerage, clearing and financing to Brevan Howard funds. It describes an expanded relationship between the firms—not an acquisition of Ripple Prime by Brevan Howard, nor a disclosed investment by Brevan Howard in the service. The announcement does not say that all Brevan Howard funds are already using Ripple Prime.
Ripple describes Brevan Howard as managing about $35 billion in assets for institutional investors worldwide. That figure is Ripple’s description in its October 6, 2026 announcement, not a disclosed measure of assets being transferred to Ripple Prime.
The firms did not disclose onboarding dates, participating funds, transaction volumes, pricing or detailed contractual terms. As a result, the announcement establishes the service categories, but not the scale or practical terms of the arrangement.

Which markets and services does Ripple Prime cover?
Ripple’s product page describes an institutional platform spanning digital assets and traditional markets. It lists digital assets, foreign exchange, precious metals, exchange-traded derivatives, OTC swaps and fixed-income repo. Ripple also describes OTC execution, sponsored access and direct market access, real-time risk management, cross-margining, risk-based margin financing and tri-party custody setups.
Those are descriptions of Ripple Prime generally. The Brevan Howard announcement does not identify the instruments, markets, jurisdictions, custody arrangements or specific platform features that the funds will use.
Ripple acquired Hidden Road in 2025 and renamed it Ripple Prime. In its April 8, 2025 announcement of the $1.25 billion acquisition, Ripple described Hidden Road as an institutional clearing, prime brokerage and financing provider across FX, digital assets, derivatives, swaps and fixed income. The acquisition announcement said Hidden Road cleared $3 trillion annually across markets and served more than 300 institutional customers at that time; these are historical Hidden Road figures, not current Ripple Prime metrics.

In a separate U.S. product announcement on November 3, 2025, Ripple said U.S.-based institutional clients could execute OTC spot transactions in dozens of prominent digital assets and cross-margin those transactions and holdings with other digital-asset positions, including OTC swaps and CME futures and options. That announcement describes a U.S. capability; it does not establish which services, instruments or locations are covered by the Brevan Howard agreement.
What the executives said—and what remains unproven
Brevan Howard Group COO Alan McGroarty said that “as digital and traditional markets become more interconnected, the need for institutional-quality digital asset infrastructure that enables a seamless experience for investors is only growing.” He also said Ripple’s platform is expected to provide investment teams with “increased operational ease and capital efficiency.” That is his expectation; Ripple’s announcement reports no measured operational or financial result.

Ripple Prime President Noel Kimmel called Brevan Howard’s trust recognition of Ripple Prime’s competitive position and cross-asset capabilities, and said the expanded relationship reflects “a long-term commitment to shared success.” These are statements from company representatives, not an independent evaluation of the platform or agreement.
How the agreement relates to Ripple’s 2025 investment round
Ripple says funds managed by Brevan Howard affiliates participated in its $500 million strategic investment in 2025. The $500 million is the size of Ripple’s investment round, not Brevan Howard’s disclosed contribution. Ripple has not stated how much the affiliated funds invested.

Separately, Ripple said in its October 24, 2025 acquisition-closing article that Ripple Prime’s business had grown 3X since the initial Hidden Road acquisition announcement. That is a company-reported historical comparison; the article does not provide a measurement method. It should not be read as a current independently verified operating metric or as an outcome of the Brevan Howard agreement.
What institutional clients can assess from the announcement
The announcement signals a relationship around institutional infrastructure for traditional and digital markets, but does not provide enough detail to compare Ripple Prime’s terms with another prime broker or to determine whether a particular fund’s needs are met. An institutional evaluation would normally examine:

- Clearing arrangements, financing costs, margin terms and eligible collateral.
- How cross-margining and risk controls work, including which positions can be netted.
- Custody structure, asset segregation and the parties responsible for safeguarding assets.
- Jurisdictional availability, regulatory permissions and operational integration.
- Service-level commitments, onboarding requirements and contractual remedies.
Ripple’s product materials mention cross-margining, risk management and tri-party custody setups, but the Brevan Howard announcement does not disclose the terms or configurations applicable to these funds. It also does not say that XRP or RLUSD will be used, that Ripple’s blockchain will settle fund trades, that client assets are guaranteed, or that the relationship has improved investment performance.
