BreachRx announced a $15 million Series A on May 19, 2025, led by Ballistic Ventures, to expand the teams behind its enterprise cyber incident response software. The company said the round was oversubscribed, brought its total funding to more than $23 million, and would help it scale go-to-market and engineering. Its Rex platform is designed to coordinate the organizational work around a cyber incident—such as decisions, approvals, communications, obligations and evidence—alongside technical security tools.
Who invested in BreachRx’s Series A?
BreachRx said Ballistic Ventures led the $15 million round, with participation from SYN Ventures, Overline and Silver Buckshot Ventures. The announcement described the round as oversubscribed and put the company’s total funding at more than $23 million after the financing. These are figures reported by BreachRx; the announcement did not state a valuation or the ownership dilution associated with the round. BreachRx’s May 19, 2025 announcement

The announcement also said Ballistic general partner and former Mandiant CEO Kevin Mandia would join BreachRx’s board, while Nicole Perlroth, a former New York Times lead cybersecurity reporter, would become a board observer. Mandia said companies should prepare for cyber incidents and argued that BreachRx could help them plan and execute responses more effectively. That is an investor’s endorsement, not an independently measured result.
What does BreachRx say it will do with the money?
CEO and co-founder Andy Lunsford said BreachRx planned to use the proceeds to scale its go-to-market and engineering teams to accelerate adoption and innovation. The announcement describes a plan, not completed hiring or demonstrated product changes. It gives no detailed allocation by function. BreachRx’s funding announcement

What is the Rex platform designed to coordinate?
BreachRx describes Rex as an enterprise command center for the organizational response to cyber incidents. Its current product page lists a structured workflow engine, an enterprise system of record, continuous evidence capture, privileged communications, embedded regulatory intelligence and Rex AI. The company says the platform can be used for preparation, live response, readiness exercises and regulatory deadlines. BreachRx Rex Platform

How does BreachRx position Rex alongside SIEM, SOAR and ITSM tools?
BreachRx draws a distinction based on the work each category is meant to organize. In the company’s framing, SIEM and SOAR tools support security teams’ technical detection, investigation and automated response; ITSM systems manage technical service workflows and tickets; Rex is meant to coordinate the wider organizational response across functions. This is the vendor’s product positioning, not an independently validated comparison or a claim that Rex replaces those systems. BreachRx Rex Platform
| Tool category | Role in BreachRx’s framing |
|---|---|
| SIEM and SOAR | Technical detection, investigation and automated response |
| ITSM | Technical service workflows and tickets |
| Rex | Cross-functional incident coordination, including ownership, decisions, obligations, approvals, communications and evidence |
The distinction reflects the idea that a serious cyber event becomes a business incident as well as a technical one: legal, security, IT, communications and executives may need to work from shared timelines and records. Ballistic Ventures made that coordination problem central to its investment thesis, describing teams working from separate or outdated playbooks. That explanation is the lead investor’s rationale for backing BreachRx, rather than proof of product performance. Ballistic Ventures’ investment rationale

The financing shows investor backing for BreachRx’s approach to coordinating cyber incident workflows.
