There is a credible case for renewing a Bigg Boss sponsorship, but the available public evidence does not prove that returning sponsors earn more incremental return than first-time sponsors. Repeat exposure may build familiarity and give brands more chances to connect their message with the show. Yet sponsor counts, audience reach and renewal decisions are not the same as measured profit or brand lift caused by renewing.
What the evidence says about repeat Bigg Boss sponsorship
Bigg Boss attracts both returning and first-time advertisers across multiple language editions. That participation indicates demand for the franchise, but it cannot show what any one sponsor gained, or whether renewal improved its results.

JioStar’s 4 September 2026 announcement reported more than 95 sponsors across six editions. The company also cited franchise-level figures from 2025: more than 500 million reach, over 438 billion viewing minutes and 47% year-on-year engagement growth. These are company-reported measures of platform scale and engagement—not sponsor-level sales, brand lift or return on investment (ROI).

The announcement describes both long-standing partners deepening their involvement and first-time advertisers joining. That is evidence of continued advertiser interest, not evidence that returning advertisers perform better.

Do Bigg Boss viewers show stronger brand metrics?
A report by The Economic Times on 14 August 2024 described Unomer Technologies research covering advertising effects across 19 categories associated with Bigg Boss Tamil and Malayalam. It reported these differences between regular viewers and light viewers or non-viewers:
| Measure | Reported difference | Comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Top-of-mind awareness | 57% higher | Regular viewers versus light viewers and non-viewers |
| Brand consideration | 26% higher | Regular viewers versus light viewers and non-viewers |
| Purchase intent | 33% higher | Regular viewers versus light viewers and non-viewers |
These are reported associations, not proof that sponsorship caused the differences. Regular viewers may differ from other viewers in ways that affect their brand attitudes; the published report does not isolate sponsorship exposure or show that renewal produced the results. The report also includes advertiser comments about growth and store footfall, which should be understood as company claims rather than independent causal evaluations. What campaign examples can—and cannot—show
Dabur Chyawanprash: a show mechanic tied to a brand benefit
A WARC case study dated 28 September 2014 describes Dabur Chyawanprash linking its immunity positioning to Bigg Boss tasks that gave contestants immunity. The case study reports that 44% of respondents recalled and associated the immunity-voting window with Dabur Chyawanprash, and that the campaign helped achieve 20% volume growth. Those are outcomes reported for one historical campaign, not a controlled benchmark or evidence that a repeat sponsorship outperforms a first-time one. The accessible summary does not provide a control group. See the WARC case summary.

Other reported advertiser outcomes
ETBrandEquity’s 2025 report summarizes network-shared examples: a leading dairy brand reported a 20% rise in active users nationally and 48% in Hyderabad, while a South Indian ice-cream brand saw search volume rise 2.1 times during a season. The report also includes reach, watch-time and OTT figures. These are campaign or platform claims; they do not establish a renewal effect or show whether results exceeded sponsorship costs. Does sponsorship duration improve brand lift?
Evidence from outside Bigg Boss offers a reason to test longer partnerships, but it should not be mistaken for a Bigg Boss result. Channel 4’s 8 March 2024 release described a 15-year UK broadcast sponsorship dataset covering almost 240 sponsorships, 666 research waves and more than 400,000 viewers. It reported average uplifts versus non-viewers of 8 percentage points in awareness, 8 points in consideration, 7 in brand perceptions, 5 in relevance and 6 in trust. It also reported that sponsorship lasting more than two years had a 20% higher boost in consideration than sponsorship lasting one to two years.
That 20% figure concerns consideration uplift in UK broadcast campaigns; it is not a 20% increase in sales or ROI, and it does not prove the same effect for Bigg Boss. It is directional evidence that duration can matter, not a forecast for a prospective sponsor. Read Channel 4’s findings.

Why a renewal is not proof of return
A renewal can make commercial sense because a brand values continuity, reach or access to additional inventory. It is still a business decision, not an independent evaluation of what the sponsorship caused.

The article quoted industry commentary that ongoing presence could widen exposure to a target group and increase advertising inventory. It did not provide a season-over-season outcome comparison for Snapdeal. Read the report.
To show that a second season delivered more, an advertiser would need comparable results from the first and renewal seasons, with a credible baseline or comparison group. The comparison would also need to account for changes in spend, category conditions, creative, audience exposure, distribution and market conditions. Public sources cited here do not provide that controlled, sponsor-by-sponsor comparison for Bigg Boss.

Before signing a renewal, establish a measurement plan that separates exposure, brand effects, commercial outcomes and cost. Keep definitions consistent across seasons so a change in the figures can be interpreted rather than merely observed.
- Record exposure. Track verified reach and frequency, language market, placement type and share of voice. Separate linear TV, streaming, social clips and in-show integrations.
- Measure brand outcomes consistently. Use the same survey design for aided and unaided awareness, correct sponsor attribution, consideration, relevance, trust and purchase intent. Compare reasonably similar exposed and control audiences.
- Track commercial outcomes against a baseline. Measure relevant results such as category-adjusted sales, active users, store visits, search and conversion. Document baseline periods, geographic controls and campaign timing.
- Calculate efficiency using total cost. Include sponsorship fees and activation spend, along with the cost and value of any additional integrations or distribution. Relate total spend to incremental outcomes, not to reach alone.
- Assess creative fit and wear-out. Check whether the brand benefit naturally connects to a show mechanic and whether repeated appearances remain recognizable without becoming intrusive.
- Set the renewal test in advance. Call a result incremental only when the second-season outcome improves against a credible baseline or comparison after accounting for changes in spend, creative, audience and market conditions.
A repeat deal may still be rational for continuity or reach even without measured sales lift. That is a different claim from demonstrated ROI, so the decision should reflect which benefit the advertiser is actually buying.

When evaluating opportunities across editions or campaigns, compare the factors that determine whether a sponsorship can reach the right audience and be measured credibly. JioStar’s announcement establishes a roster across Hindi, Bangla, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam editions, but the sources cited here do not establish comparable prices or sponsor-specific ROI.
Quick Recap
- Language and market fit: Does the edition reach the customers and locations the brand needs?
- Audience and verified reach: Are audience composition and exposure relevant to the brand, and how are they measured?
- Placement and integration depth: Is the brand a title sponsor, an on-air sponsor or integrated into show activity?
- Frequency and duration: How often will viewers encounter the brand, and over what period?
- Creative fit: Does the sponsorship make the product’s benefit meaningful in the context of the programme?
- Measurement quality and total cost: Can the brand separate incremental outcomes from existing demand and weigh them against all sponsorship and activation costs?
