Brady Corporation’s strategic partnership with Seattle-based React Mobile was announced on May 26, 2020, as a $6 million raise. Brady later disclosed investing $8 million across fiscal 2020 and 2021, then reported a $5 million impairment charge on its remaining equity interest. The announcement set out plans to help expand installations, explore sales into additional industries, and develop safety solutions together; it did not establish that every plan continued or that the partnership remains active.
What Brady and React Mobile announced in 2020
React Mobile said it raised $6 million through a strategic partnership with Brady Corporation (NYSE: BRC) on May 26, 2020. React Mobile described Brady, headquartered in Milwaukee, as a manufacturer and marketer of solutions for identifying and protecting people, products, and places. React Mobile’s announcement presented the deal as both financing and a business collaboration.
The companies said Brady would help accelerate React Mobile’s installation capabilities, explore reselling its solutions in other industry verticals, and work with React Mobile to develop safety solutions. These were announced intentions, not proof of how much each activity later occurred. React Mobile CEO Robb Monkman said at the time that the investment would strengthen the company’s ability to meet demand; Brady CEO J. Michael Nauman described the companies as complementary in building safety and connected-world solutions.
Why Brady’s filings show an $8 million investment
The $6 million announced by React Mobile in May 2020 is not the full amount Brady later reported investing. In its fiscal 2021 Form 10-K, Brady disclosed investments in React Mobile of $6.0 million in fiscal 2020 and $2.0 million in fiscal 2021, or $8.0 million across those two fiscal years. Brady accounted for the holding as an equity-method investment. Brady’s fiscal 2021 filing supplies the cumulative investment figures; the $6 million announcement and $8 million accounting total refer to different measures and time periods.

What React Mobile’s platform did
React Mobile was not described as a consumer panic-button product. Its 2020 announcement characterized the platform as a way for employees to send an emergency alert with location information so management could dispatch help. It cited GPS geolocation and Bluetooth beacons as elements of the system. React Mobile’s website currently describes an employee-safety and communication platform that routes response resources to an alert location.
As of October 8, 2026, the company website reported more than 700 customers, 110,000 rooms covered, and 50,000 devices deployed. Those are company-reported, time-sensitive figures, not independent measurements.

How the partnership was extended into other markets
In July 2020, PDC, a Brady business, announced that it would offer React Mobile’s platform to healthcare and education markets through the strategic partnership. PDC’s July 9, 2020 announcement documents that channel expansion at the time. It does not establish that the offering remains available today.
What Brady later disclosed about the investment
Brady’s fiscal 2023 Form 10-K described React Mobile as an employee-safety software and hardware company and identified Brady’s interest as 23%. The filing said React Mobile’s financial position had deteriorated amid the hospitality downturn associated with COVID-19—the filing said hospitality was then the company’s entire customer base—and increased competition. Brady reported a $5.0 million other-than-temporary impairment charge in fiscal 2021 for its remaining equity interest. Brady’s fiscal 2023 filing is a historical accounting disclosure, not a current valuation of React Mobile and not evidence that the startup shut down.
