The company said it had approximately 500 employees after the cuts; that figure is its remaining headcount, not the number laid off.
What is known about the layoffs
Boundless spokesperson Rachel Pepple told GeekWire that the reduction in force took place Thursday, September 25, 2025. The report did not state how many people lost their jobs. Pepple said the cuts affected staff in the United States and the Philippines, but no country, team, role, office, or employment-status breakdown was reported.
Pepple said the company had approximately 500 employees following the reduction. Because no reliable pre-cut headcount was provided, that approximate post-cut figure cannot be used to calculate how many people were laid off.
In an email statement quoted by GeekWire, Pepple said: “Right now, we’re focused on ensuring a compassionate and respectful transition for all our employees, while maintaining the highest levels of service for our customers,” she added. “We will be providing no further comment at this time.”

How the cuts relate to the Localyze acquisition
The reduction preceded Boundless’s October 1, 2025 announcement that it had acquired Berlin-based Localyze. Boundless’s newsroom describes the deal as an expansion of its global immigration expertise and services. GeekWire reported that Localyze primarily served people immigrating to European countries and that the acquisition added support for several European countries, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates.
The timing establishes sequence, not cause: the available reporting does not say that the acquisition prompted the layoffs. Boundless’s company media information describes its audiences as families pursuing family-based immigration, professionals seeking employment visas and work authorization, and businesses managing corporate immigration, compliance, and workforce mobility.

What Boundless said about its business outlook
GeekWire reported figures from a Slack memo by CEO Xiao Wang that the publication viewed. They were company projections, not independently verified or audited results: the memo projected about 40% growth in 2025, expenses 80% above 2024, $31 million in 2025 sales, and profitability in 2027. The report does not establish whether those projections were ultimately met.
In the memo, Wang wrote: “I want to be clear: this decision is not a reflection of the performance, talent, or dedication of our departing colleagues. They have worked tirelessly to improve the lives of immigrants and their contributions will be part of Boundless DNA for years to come. We are providing them with resources and support to help them in their transition.” GeekWire attributed this passage to the internal memo; it is not a statement from the affected employees.
