The Australian Hotels Association (WA) lists both venues as winners. These awards recognize different things: Boundary Island’s is a metropolitan casual-dining category, while Wedgetail’s concerns the quality of draught beer served. The categories are not a head-to-head comparison. AHA(WA)’s 2025 awards results confirm the formal award names and winners.
What the awards recognize
The AHA & Coca-Cola Hospitality Awards for Excellence recognize Western Australian hospitality venues and individuals across more than 40 categories. In its 30 September 2025 finalist announcement, AHA(WA) said the awards received a record 605 nominations from across the state. Those figures are the association’s reported totals. What Wedgetail said about draught-beer quality
Wedgetail co-owner Howie Croft told PerthNow that serving beer in good condition involves more than making quality beer. He cited caring for beer lines, chilling glasses before pouring and training staff in how to pour beer. Those are the practices he described; the award result itself does not establish an independent assessment of each practice.

Other recognition for Boundary Island
PerthNow reported that Boundary Island’s head chef, Jules Schliesser, was highly commended in the Head Chef award category. It also reported that the dining and brewing awards were first AHA wins for Boundary Island and Wedgetail, respectively. PerthNow published its report on 19 November 2025.
