Boris Becker’s current net worth is not established by the available financial reporting. A 2022 legal analysis says he argued that he had earned about $50 million during his tennis career; Associated Press reporting on his May 2024 bankruptcy discharge says he still owed about £42 million. Career earnings and remaining debt are different figures from different periods, and neither reveals his present net worth.
Why there is no reliable current net-worth figure
Net worth is the value of a person’s assets minus their liabilities at a particular point in time. The reviewed reporting does not provide a current balance sheet for Becker: it does not establish his present assets, liabilities or ongoing income. That means a precise current net-worth number cannot be verified from these sources.

The figures often brought into the discussion measure different things. HFW’s 2022 legal analysis reports Becker’s argument about career earnings, while the Associated Press reported creditor debt in connection with a 2024 court proceeding. Earnings accumulated over a career are not the same as assets still owned, and debt alone does not show someone’s net worth.

The dollar, euro and pound amounts refer to distinct claims, obligations and reporting dates. They cannot be added, subtracted or converted into a defensible net-worth estimate without current, attributable information about both assets and liabilities.

How Becker’s tennis earnings relate to his finances
Becker retired from professional tennis in 1999. HFW’s 2022 analysis says he cited a sharp reduction in income after retirement, along with divorce, child-maintenance payments and expensive lifestyle commitments, in explaining what happened to the approximately $50 million in career earnings he argued he had received. This is an account of his argument, not an audited lifetime-earnings statement or proof of how much wealth he held at any later date.
The contrast between a large career-earnings claim and later bankruptcy does not, by itself, show how much money remains today. Earnings are money received over time; net worth depends on assets and debts at a specific date, after spending and other financial changes.

What happened in Becker’s bankruptcy case
HFW reports that a bankruptcy order was made on 21 June 2017 after Arbuthnot Latham & Co petitioned over an unpaid loan of around €4.6 million connected to a Mallorca estate. That loan amount should not be confused with the substantially larger creditor-debt totals reported later.
On 8 April 2022, Becker was convicted of four offences under the Insolvency Act, according to HFW. The analysis identifies offences involving removal of property, failure to disclose ownership of a German property, concealment of a loan and failure to disclose shares. He was sentenced to two and a half years in prison on 29 April 2022. HFW says he was acquitted on 20 other charges; AP’s 2024 report says he was acquitted on 25 other charges. The sources therefore differ on the acquittal count, while both report four convictions.

The BBC reported that Becker was released in December 2022 after serving eight months and deported from the UK. In an interview published in April 2023, he reflected on the pressures of early fame: “I don’t think there was a handbook written for how to behave, what to do and how to live your life when you win Wimbledon at 17.”

On 1 May 2024, a London court discharged Becker from bankruptcy. The Associated Press reported that he still owed about £42 million at the time, despite a settlement that included a “substantial sum” and outstanding trophies. A discharge from bankruptcy proceedings is therefore not evidence that all the debt was repaid, nor does it establish his current net worth.
AP also quoted Chief Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Nicholas Briggs describing Becker as cooperative with the trustee’s inquiries. The court’s discharge and that assessment concern the bankruptcy proceedings; they do not provide a full accounting of his present finances.
