Bon Jovi’s biggest-selling album depends on how sales are counted. The list below ranks the band’s albums by BestSellingAlbums.org’s estimated copy sales, not by verified worldwide revenue in dollars. Its August 2, 2024 update puts Slippery When Wet first and greatest-hits collection Cross Road a close second. Bon Jovi’s official archive gives Slippery When Wet a much higher worldwide sales figure, so the estimates should be read as one dataset—not definitive audited totals.
Bon Jovi albums ranked by estimated copies sold
This ranking includes studio albums and compilations. That matters because Cross Road, a greatest-hits compilation, takes second place. BestSellingAlbums.org labels its figures as sales, but the inspected page does not fully explain how it estimates them. Figures are rounded below to one decimal place in millions.

| 1 | Slippery When Wet | 1986 | Studio album | 18.6 million | BestSellingAlbums.org, updated August 2, 2024 | The band’s official archive describes it as its third album and names “You Give Love a Bad Name,” “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “Livin’ on a Prayer” among its hits. |
| 2 | Cross Road | 1994 | Greatest-hits compilation | 18.3 million | BestSellingAlbums.org, 2024 | Its inclusion makes this a ranking of albums, not studio albums alone. |
| 3 | New Jersey | 1988 | Studio album | 9.7 million | BestSellingAlbums.org, 2024 | Universal Music Canada announced remastered and deluxe physical editions in 2014; that announcement does not establish current availability. |
| 4 | Keep the Faith | 1992 | Studio album | 5.3 million | BestSellingAlbums.org, 2024 | Its estimate is only slightly above Crush in this dataset. |
| 5 | Crush | 2000 | Studio album | 5.3 million | BestSellingAlbums.org, 2024 | The estimate trails Keep the Faith by about 10,000 copies in the dataset. |
| 6 | These Days | 1995 | Studio album | 5.0 million | BestSellingAlbums.org, 2024 | Country-specific chart peaks and first-week sales are not worldwide totals. |
Why the reported sales totals differ
The band’s official figure for Slippery When Wet
Bon Jovi’s official Backstage archive for Slippery When Wet says the 1986 album has sold 28 million copies worldwide and remains the band’s best-selling album. That is a claim from the artist’s archive, not the same measure as BestSellingAlbums.org’s 18.6 million estimate. The available sources do not explain the difference, so neither figure should be treated as a correction of the other.
Equivalent album sales include more than album copies
ChartMasters reports sales-plus-streams equivalent album sales (EAS), a composite measure that incorporates multiple formats and streaming. Its table dated October 4, 2026 lists Slippery When Wet at 58.555 million total EAS, including 24.896 million studio-album EAS, 24.612 million other-LP EAS, and equivalent counts from singles and streaming. Those units are not 58.555 million copies of the album sold. See ChartMasters’ Bon Jovi album sales, streaming and chart statistics for its measure and figures.

US certifications are not worldwide sales totals
RIAA Gold & Platinum awards track US-market sound-recording sales and certifications; they do not rank every album by worldwide copies or revenue. A secondary discography reference reports US certifications of 15-times Platinum for Slippery When Wet and 7-times Platinum for New Jersey. Those certification levels are useful US context, not global totals. RIAA explains its program at Gold & Platinum.
What chart history can—and cannot—tell you
Chart positions describe performance in a particular market and chart, not total worldwide sales. A secondary discography reference reports that Slippery When Wet reached No. 1 in Australia, Canada and the US, including eight weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It reports New Jersey reached No. 1 in the US, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK, and that Cross Road debuted at No. 1 and was the UK’s best-selling album of 1994. The same reference says These Days debuted at No. 1 in the UK and spent four consecutive weeks there; it also reports 379,000 copies sold in Japan in its first week. These market-specific milestones should not be confused with worldwide album totals.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is there a definitive ranking by revenue?
Not in the available figures. The sources offer estimated copy sales, an official worldwide sales claim for one album, a sales-and-streams equivalent measure, and US certification markers. They do not provide consistent, audited worldwide revenue in dollars for every Bon Jovi album. A revenue ranking would also need comparable treatment of prices, formats, territories, and time periods; the cited figures do not establish those values.
