Bolttech announced on 4 June 2025 that it closed its Series C with US$147 million in investments at a company valuation of US$2.1 billion. Sumitomo Corporation and Iberis Capital joined the round as strategic investors; bolttech also announced an Asia-focused joint venture with Sumitomo to develop embedded insurance programmes and related services for business partners.

How much did bolttech raise, and what is its valuation?

Bolttech said the completed Series C brought in US$147 million and valued the company at US$2.1 billion. The company’s announcement does not say whether that valuation is pre-money or post-money, and it does not disclose the full capitalization table or how much each investor contributed. Bolttech’s 4 June 2025 close announcement is the source for both figures; they are company-announced rather than independently verified financial figures.

How the final close differs from the December announcement

The June close followed an earlier update on 20 December 2024. At that point, bolttech said Dragon Funds was leading the Series C alongside Baillie Gifford, Generali through Lion River, and other investors. The company then expected the round to total more than US$100 million, while reporting the same US$2.1 billion valuation. That was an expectation at the earlier stage, not the final amount. The final announced total was US$147 million. Bolttech’s December 2024 announcement provides the earlier details.

Who invested in the round?

Dragon Funds was named as the lead in the December 2024 announcement, alongside Baillie Gifford, Generali through Lion River, and others. At the June close, bolttech said Sumitomo Corporation and Iberis Capital joined as strategic investors. The announcements do not provide a complete list of investors or contribution amounts, so they do not establish each investor’s share of the round.

What bolttech does

Bolttech describes itself as a global insurtech that uses technology and data capabilities to connect insurers, distributors, and customers, making it easier to buy and sell insurance and protection products. The company said in its 2024 announcement that it served customers in more than 35 markets across Asia, Europe, North America, and Africa. That market count and business description are company-reported; the announcements do not independently audit them. Bolttech’s 2024 company announcement describes its business and footprint.

What embedded insurance means here

Embedded insurance is insurance or protection offered within a partner’s customer journey or service—for example, when a customer encounters an insurance option while using a partner’s product or service. In this announcement, the term describes the type of programme bolttech and Sumitomo intend to build for business partners in Asia, rather than a specific policy or consumer offer.

How bolttech says it will use the investment

Bolttech said the funding would support further platform capabilities and global growth. It also described the Sumitomo joint venture as a way to deliver embedded insurance programmes and complementary end-to-end services for partners in Asia. These are stated aims; the announcement does not quantify the investment’s expected impact or report results from the joint venture. It also does not establish that the Series C caused or financed particular insurance offerings.

The funding announcement does not report revenue contribution, policy counts, profitability, or other operating results for the joint venture. It also does not provide investor-by-investor funding amounts or explain the basis of the company valuation. Those details cannot be inferred from the headline figures.
