Authorities reportedly had no information that he pointed it at anyone specifically, and the lead-up to the incident was unknown.
What happened at the Boeing picket line?
FOX 13 Seattle reported on September 17, 2024, that at about 6:30 a.m. a security guard left Boeing’s parts distribution center at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. The outlet, relaying the sheriff’s-office account, said the guard showed “some sort of gun” at picketers who had been blocking access to the building. These details are attributed to the authorities’ account as reported by FOX 13, not presented as independently verified observations.
The report did not establish what happened immediately before the encounter. FOX 13 said the lead-up was unknown, so the available account does not establish the guard’s motive or the precise sequence of events.
Did the guard point the gun at anyone?
FOX 13 reported that authorities had no information that the guard pointed the gun at anyone specifically. That qualification matters: the report supports saying that he showed a gun at picketers, but it does not establish that he aimed it at an individual or threatened someone with it.

What did Boeing say?
Boeing said: “This was an unacceptable incident, and the contract security guard involved will not return to Boeing. We respect our employees’ right to picket peacefully and believe everyone should feel safe. We’re cooperating with the King County Sheriff’s Office as they investigate.” FOX 13 reproduced the statement; it did not identify a named spokesperson.
Who employed the guard?
FOX 13 reported that Boeing said the guard was not a Boeing employee and that the company had been told the security contractor fired him. CBS News separately identified Allied Universal as the contractor and reported that the company said it was investigating the alleged incident and that the guard had resigned and was no longer employed there. Those contractor details are CBS’s reporting, not details established in FOX 13’s account.

How did the incident relate to the strike?
The incident took place during the 2024 strike by Boeing machinists represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM). CBS News reported at the time that the strike involved 33,000 machinists; that is a contemporaneous 2024 figure, not a current strike count. FOX 13 described contract talks as deteriorating after workers rejected a tentative agreement and demonstrations escalated.
This was not part of SPEEA’s separate negotiations in 2026. SPEEA says its members supported other Boeing unions during the 2024 strikes but were not directly involved in those stoppages.
