Bunnings sold its Bluey Hammerbarn garden gnomes for $19 each in 2024. After they sold out, marketplace listings climbed far above retail—but a headline-grabbing auction bid above $24,000 was disputed by the seller and was not a confirmed sale. Bunnings later released the gnomes again, and official Bluey material documents further merchandise activity in 2025; the available reports do not establish stock or resale prices today.
What were the Hammerbarn gnomes, and what did they cost?
The garden gnomes were part of a Bunnings promotion tied to “Hammerbarn,” the Bluey episode in which Bluey and Bingo visit a fictional hardware store and choose items for miniature homes. PerthNow reported on 12 February 2024 that Bunnings changed the exterior signage at its Cannington store and several other stores in Australia and New Zealand to evoke Hammerbarn. The four original gnome characters were Hecuba, Jeremy, Tony and Meditation Gnome. PerthNow’s February 2024 report put the in-store price at $19 per gnome.
The $19 figure is the reported retail price, not a current price guarantee. The resale figures below are snapshots reported in 2024 and should not be treated as a guide to what the gnomes are worth now.
How high did resale listings go?
PerthNow observed listings for individual gnomes above $100 and four-gnome sets starting at about $350. One Churchlands seller told the outlet they had obtained nine sets, listed them at $399 each and sold them all; the seller said one set went for $425 that weekend. A later PerthNow report said some sellers were asking almost $900 for a set of four. These were reported asking prices and a seller-reported sale, not a verified market-wide price benchmark. PerthNow reported the later listings on 29 February 2024.

7NEWS also reported resale listings of $100–$200 and a registered bid of $9,999 for four gnomes and other items. That figure, too, describes a listing snapshot, not proof of a completed transaction. 7NEWS’s 2024 report covered the return release and the resale reaction.
Was the $24,000 listing a real sale?
No confirmed sale at that price was reported. PerthNow saw an auction listing for four gnomes and other merchandise with displayed bids above $24,000, but the seller said the amount was “not for real life” and alleged that fake bidders using multiple Facebook profiles would not pay if they won. The report said the seller told the outlet eBay had seen evidence and was investigating; PerthNow had sought comment from eBay. The available reporting does not establish the investigation’s outcome. A displayed bid is not the same as a completed, paid sale.

Why were fans angry?
PerthNow reported criticism in a Facebook group, including a member who said they were reporting listings they considered price gouging. An anonymous fan said their two-year-old had missed out and described frustration at seeing the gnomes listed online. Those comments show individual reactions, not a survey of all Bluey fans.
The frustration had a practical angle: fans who missed the in-store release faced listings at multiples of the $19 retail price, while the most dramatic auction number was not a confirmed transaction. That distinction matters when deciding whether an asking price reflects actual value.

Did Bunnings restock the gnomes?
Yes. After the initial sellout, Bunnings released the range again at $19 each, according to 7NEWS. The report said purchases were in-store only, with a limit of four per customer. The returning designs were Hecuba, Tony, Jeremy and Meditation Gnome; the release also added Bluey Groom Garden Gnome and Bluey Bride Garden Gnome.
Bunnings merchandise director Jen Tucker told 7NEWS the company was sorry some customers had missed out and was “incredibly disappointed” to see a small number of people reselling Bluey products online at inflated prices. Bunnings’ earlier statement to PerthNow said the retailer was selling in stores and placing limits on Bluey garden gnomes to give as many customers as possible access, while acknowledging the range’s popularity had exceeded expectations.

What happened after the 2024 releases?
The official Bluey site’s 2025 Bunnings campaign page documents another merchandise campaign, with new gnomes, rugs and Hammerbarn merchandise, plus in-store scavenger hunts, Hammerbarn-themed kids’ trolleys and free workshops during August. It also says Bunnings did not rebrand store exteriors that year. This confirms 2025 campaign activity, not ongoing inventory.
Wesfarmers chief executive Rob Scott said in February 2024 that Hammerbarn stores “materially outperformed in sales” and hoped there would be more ways to bring Bluey into stores. That comment indicates the promotion drew strong retail interest, but it does not establish whether any particular gnome is available now.

What to check before buying one secondhand
Reports about the 2024 promotions do not establish October 2026 store inventory, current marketplace prices, or current Amazon availability. If considering a listing, assess the specific offer rather than treating a past headline price as a valuation:
- Confirm what the item is. Check the character, product details and whether the seller establishes that it is an official Bunnings/Bluey item.
- Calculate the full cost. Include shipping and any other charges, not just the displayed item price.
- Separate asking prices from completed sales. A listing or bid is not evidence that a buyer paid that amount; the reported $24,000-plus auction was disputed by its seller.
- Review marketplace protections. Check the seller’s history, payment method and the platform’s current buyer-protection and return rules before paying.
Searching for “Bluey Hammerbarn garden gnomes” may surface listings, but the available sources do not verify current Amazon stock or a current authorized seller. Compare the item’s authenticity, total price and protections rather than relying on 2024 resale snapshots.
