How Blue Bell’s 2024 bracket worked
Blue Bell selected 16 discontinued flavors from requests it receives from consumers and paired them in a head-to-head tournament. Fans voted on the company website and its Instagram, Facebook, and X pages. Blue Bell says votes across its website and social media pages were combined to determine the winner. Blue Bell’s tournament page names Groom’s Cake as the champion.
A local report said voting took place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with votes combined at the end of each day. The reported first-round matchups were:
- Strawberry Cheesecake vs. Blueberry Cheesecake
- Groom’s Cake vs. Red Velvet Cake
- Hot Fudge Brownie vs. Raspberry Fudge Brownie
- Gingerbread House vs. Cherry Amaretto Cordial
- Tiramisu vs. Mocha Madness
- Key Lime Pie vs. Creole Cream Cheese
- Lemon Bliss vs. Cookie Cake
- Triple Chocolate vs. Triple Caramel
Which flavors were set to return?
Groom’s Cake won
On May 1, 2025, Blue Bell announced Groom’s Cake would return to stores for a limited time in pint and half-gallon sizes. The company described it as milk chocolate ice cream with chocolate cake pieces and chocolate-coated strawberry hearts, along with strawberry sauce and chocolate icing. Blue Bell said it introduced the flavor in 2009 and that it had not been available in stores since 2018. Blue Bell’s announcement identifies Groom’s Cake as the tournament winner.

Cookie Cake was the runner-up
After an overwhelming response from fans, Blue Bell also announced the return of Cookie Cake. Its description was sweet cream ice cream with chocolate chip cookie cake pieces and chocolate and vanilla icing swirls. The company said it would be available in pint and half-gallon sizes. Blue Bell’s announcement describes both returns as limited-time releases.
Are Groom’s Cake or Cookie Cake available now?
As of October 8, 2026, neither flavor appears on Blue Bell’s official flavor listing. The company categorizes featured flavors as new, limited-time, or regional. Their absence from the page does not establish that they can never return; it means only that they are not listed there currently.

Is another Blue Bell flavor tournament open?
The 2024 bracket is over, and the sources checked do not establish that a new tournament has since been announced. In the 2025 announcement, Blue Bell marketing communications manager Kelli Remmert said, “We plan to have another flavor tournament in the future, and we know the competition will be just as sweet.” That expressed future intent, not an active vote or a confirmed date.
