You can find bloomer shorts at retailers including Urban Outfitters, Reformation, Posse and Free People, with additional styles featured from SEA NY, ASOS DESIGN and Topshop. Treat those as shopping leads, not guarantees of current stock: check each retailer’s live product page, size availability and return terms before ordering.

What are bloomer shorts?

Bloomers are loose, volume-forward shorts that borrow details from lingerie and ready-to-wear. Depending on the pair, they may have a billowy cut, gathered or elastic shaping, frilled hems or lace, in fabrics such as cotton, chiffon or silk. Those features are common, not essential; the label alone does not tell you a garment’s length, coverage or construction.

The look has also appeared in high-fashion styling. Who What Wear’s coverage of Prada’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway describes violet and lilac bloomers layered under sheer skirts and peeking out beneath boxy jackets. See Who What Wear’s runway and trend coverage.

Where to shop for bloomer shorts

Fashion editors have highlighted the following retailers and styles. These are examples reported in shopping coverage, not confirmation of current inventory or regional availability.

Retailer Styles or examples featured What to know
Urban Outfitters Its women’s shorts page has a “Bloomer Shorts” category. Examples shown included Elevator Disco Ruffle Waves Bloomer Shorts, Daisy Street Posy Peek-A-Boo Bloomer Shorts and NIA Jack Bloomer Shorts. The accessed page displayed example prices from $63 to $78; listings and prices may change.
Reformation Sylvie Short was featured in 2026 coverage; Toria Short appeared in a 2025 UK roundup. Check the current product page and shipping region. 2026 roundup · 2025 roundup
Posse Aurelia gingham/cotton shorts appeared in 2025 and 2026 shopping coverage. Confirm the current listing, price and availability in your region. 2026 roundup · 2025 roundup
Free People Camille Ruffle Shorts and Intimately In Bloom Shorties were among the options highlighted in 2025 coverage. Compare the specific product’s cut and coverage rather than assuming every ruffle short is a bloomer. See the roundup.
SEA NY, ASOS DESIGN and Topshop Summer 2026 coverage featured a SEA NY Copeland plaid-pattern short, ASOS DESIGN pull-on linen-mix bloomer shorts and a Topshop bubble-hem short. Prices in the article were publication-time prices, not confirmed current prices. See the 2026 shopping coverage.
Prada and Suzie Kondi Who What Wear featured Prada Poplin Shorts and Suzie Kondi Hera Bloomers; Vogue also listed Hera Bloomers in linen-chambray. These are editorial examples at the higher-priced end, not the only way to shop the look. Who What Wear · Vogue styling guide.

Is the bloomer-shorts trend still current?

Fashion coverage has returned to the look across seasons: Who What Wear UK covered the trend in summer 2025, while Who What Wear’s summer 2026 shopping coverage included bloomers and bubble shorts and connected the silhouette with Prada’s Spring/Summer 2026 runway. That supports describing bloomers as receiving editorial and runway attention; it does not establish that they are equally popular with all shoppers or in every market.

Who What Wear UK reported that searches for “bloomer shorts” were up 190% on Google Trends. The article text does not state the comparison period, so the figure is best treated as a reported search-interest signal, not a complete measure of demand. Read the UK trend coverage.

What to check before you buy

  • Length and coverage: Bloomer shorts vary in length. Review garment photos and measurements; do not infer coverage from the trend name.
  • Volume and cut: Some pairs are puffed and billowy; others are more restrained or tailored. Consider how much volume you want and how you plan to wear them.
  • Fabric and opacity: Coverage has featured cotton, chiffon, silk, linen-chambray and linen blends. For pale colors or sheer fabrics, look for lining and opacity details on the product page; they are not established across every example.
  • Trim and print: Frills, lace, gingham and plaid create different effects, from lingerie-inspired to romantic or casual.
  • Fit and purchase terms: Check the current size chart, rise, waistband construction, return policy and shipping region. These details depend on the item and retailer.

How to style them

For a less frilly look, Who What Wear UK suggests balancing the shorts with a simple T-shirt, vest or lightweight knit. For a deliberately romantic outfit, Vogue suggests pairing bloomers with a ruffled blouse and raffia Mary Janes. Choose the direction that suits the cut and details of the pair you buy.
