Bloom Health Centers (Psych Associates of Maryland LLC) announced a data-security incident on June 28, 2024. Bloom said an unauthorized party may have accessed one employee’s email mailbox. Depending on the individual, information in that mailbox may have included names, addresses, insurance details, medical information and, for a limited number of people, Social Security numbers, payment-card numbers or driver’s-license numbers. Bloom reported no evidence of misuse or attempted misuse when it issued the notice.
The public notice does not state how many people were affected. It is also separate from Bloom’s September 2023 notice about an earlier clinician-account incident.
What Bloom announced
Bloom described the event as a data-security incident involving possible unauthorized access to one employee’s mailbox. The notice does not say that every listed category was exposed, that data was confirmed stolen, or that the event involved ransomware, malware or a particular attacker.
Bloom’s wording is conditional: information “may have included” certain categories, and the categories varied by person. The June 28, 2024 announcement is available from PR Newswire; Bloom’s official notice is hosted at bloomhealthcenters.com.

What information may have been involved?
Bloom said the information varied by person. The possible categories were:
Rank #2
- Protect Your Privacy Effectively: you can use this identity protection roller stamp to flip personal information in under 2 seconds and save time and effort, effectively hiding and protecting your personal information, such as phone numbers, social security numbers, bank statements, shipping addresses, tax documents, data, billing addresses and many more
- Ideal Replacement for Shredder: if you are still using a shredder to shred cards or papers that are printed with your personal information, this security stamper roller will be an alternative tool to block out your privacy effectively and easily
- Refillable and Long Term Use: this confidential stamp can cover a total length of up to 100 meter/ 109 yards, approximately 3,200 prints are covered, pattern width is about 0.78 inches; When ink runs out, you can refill the security stamp with ink
- Easy to Use: just continuous roll the address blocker roller stamp to conceal information, and roll on a second layer for maximum protection, works on paper, envelopes, folders, address labels, etc., please note that may not work on smooth surfaces
- How to Refill the Ink: there are 4 pieces of ID stamp refills, each is about 1.5 ml, you just need to unscrew the cap of the ink bottle (not disposable, you can close the cap for next time of use), then insert it into the hole on the side of the stamp, then turn it upside down, about 5 minutes later, the most of the ink will be replenished to the security roller stamp
- Identity and contact information: names and addresses.
- Coverage information: health-insurance, Medicaid and Medicare information.
- Clinical information: diagnoses, prescriptions, treatments and procedures.
- Higher-risk identifiers for a limited number of people: Social Security numbers, payment-card numbers and/or driver’s-license numbers.
Receiving a notice does not mean that all of these data types applied to you. Your individual letter, if one was sent, should identify the categories associated with your records. Medical and insurance information can create privacy, treatment and fraud risks even when no Social Security number was involved.
Important: this is separate from Bloom’s 2023 incident
Bloom issued another notice on September 11, 2023. Similar headlines and overlapping descriptions can make the events look like one breach, but the notices concern different accounts and timelines.

Who may be affected?
Bloom Health Centers operates as Psych Associates of Maryland LLC. The 2024 notice says some people may have originally received care from organizations acquired by Bloom, including Psych Associates of Maryland, Comprehensive Behavioral Health and Kraus Behavioral Health. A former patient may therefore recognize the earlier practice name rather than “Bloom Health Centers.”

- Personal Information Protection: there are 4 pieces of address blocker roller stamps in 2 different sizes, and 5 pieces of 1.5 ml inks, a total of 9 pieces. Mainly applied to hide information such as social security numbers, bank statements, billing addresses, shipping addresses, tax documents and so on, protecting your personal information
- Re Inking Unlimitedly: the information blocker stamp can cover information of the length about 100 meters. And each security stamper roller has an oil hole, so you don't have to worry about you having to throw away the roller stamps when the ink runs out. They can be refilled with oil for repeated use, saving time and energy
- Cover Fast: our identity protection rollers come in 2 different sizes, and you can choose different sizes according to different areas of information to cover large amounts of private information in a fast and clean way, avoiding identity theft and rejecting privacy disclosure harassment
- Easy to Use: just remove the lid on the ID stamp blocker roller and open it, and then gently slide it on the place where the information needs to be covered. It is suitable for most ordinary paper with black words, and can protect your personal privacy in time
- Save Time and Energy: compared with the shredder, the personal confidential stamp has a small size, easy to carry, can be applied anytime and anywhere. Compared to the marker, it covers a larger area and can be quickly covered with a single swipe. There is no need to worry about whether you can not protect your privacy in time
Bloom said it mailed notices by U.S. first-class mail to potentially affected people for whom it had usable addresses. Its website notice says substitute notice was used when contact information could not be identified. Not receiving a letter is therefore not conclusive proof that your information was not involved.
How to verify a letter or call
- Compare the letter with Bloom’s official notice PDF, rather than relying on an unsolicited caller’s description.
- Check which data categories the individual notice says applied to you.
- Do not provide additional Social Security, banking or account credentials to someone who contacts you unexpectedly.
- The 2024 notice listed 1-800-939-4170, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Eastern, excluding major U.S. holidays. Because that number was published in a 2024 notice, verify current availability through Bloom’s official website before treating it as an active call center.

Protect accounts and passwords
- Change any password reused for a Bloom portal, email account or other service, and enable multifactor authentication where available.
- Review account alerts and correspondence for unexpected password resets or profile changes.
Review healthcare and insurance activity
Check insurer explanation-of-benefits statements, medical records, prescriptions, providers and treatment entries for services you do not recognize. Contact the insurer and provider using independently verified numbers if anything is wrong.
Respond to payment-card exposure
If your notice mentions a payment-card number, contact the card issuer, request a replacement card and review statements. A credit freeze does not stop transactions on an existing card.
Respond to Social Security or driver’s-license exposure
Consider a credit freeze with Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. A freeze is generally stronger protection against new-account fraud than credit monitoring alone. A fraud alert is an alternative when a freeze is impractical.
Document and report suspected identity theft
Keep the notice, envelope, correspondence, account alerts and dispute records. Report suspected identity theft through the Federal Trade Commission’s IdentityTheft.gov process and notify affected banks, insurers, card issuers and healthcare providers.
What Bloom said about misuse
Bloom said it had no evidence of misuse or attempted misuse when it issued the June 2024 notice. That is a statement about what the company had identified at that time; it does not prove that misuse was impossible or that future risk had ended.
Quick Recap
What remains unknown
- The public 2024 notice does not state the total number of affected people.
- It does not establish whether information was exfiltrated, the attack method or the identity of an attacker.
- The available material does not establish later misuse, litigation or regulatory action after the notice.
- The Maine filing’s statement that identity-theft protection was not offered applies to the separate 2023 incident, not automatically to the 2024 event.
