The Irvine, California-based company said it would create and publish original games, beginning with two studios: Moonshot and Secret Door.
What is Dreamhaven?
Dreamhaven launched as a game company with a stated mission to create and publish original games for players around the world. Its announcement framed the company as a home for game creators, with resources intended to help their ideas reach players. Dreamhaven’s September 23, 2020 announcement named Moonshot and Secret Door as its first two studios.

Morhaime, identified in the announcement as Dreamhaven’s CEO, said: “I’m excited to team up with such talented people who care deeply about games and their communities.”
How was Dreamhaven organized at launch?
The 2020 announcement established two distinct development studios under the Dreamhaven company umbrella. It did not assign a particular game to either studio, so the launch announcement alone does not support attributing a specific title to Moonshot or Secret Door.

Dreamhaven’s About Us page describes its model as preserving independent studio identities while providing long-term support and resources. Its current company site describes a broader central team handling global operations, publishing, and partnerships, alongside multiple development studios. These are the company’s descriptions of its intended and current organization, not an independent comparison with other publishers.
What happened after the 2020 launch?
Dreamhaven’s current company site presents a portfolio of games and publisher activity. In a September 2025 update, it noted that Sunderfolk and Mechabellum were highlighted by the 2025 NYX Game Awards. This later portfolio context should not be confused with what was announced at launch.

There have also been reports of financial and staffing pressure. PC Gamer reported on February 4, 2026, that Dreamhaven had warned in 2025 that monthly expenses were outpacing revenue and had laid off an undisclosed number of employees, primarily in publishing. That is reported company context, not an audited account of Dreamhaven’s finances; the company-site information cited above does not independently establish the scale of those developments.
