Blackstone President Jon Gray’s reported outlook is that AI infrastructure is a promising area as demand for computing capacity grows. The available interview summary, dated April 23, 2026, also describes Gray as optimistic about the IPO market. It does not include a full transcript, so the headline phrase “right place to be” should not be treated as a verified verbatim quote or as a recommendation to buy any particular investment.
What Gray’s reported view means
The reported thesis is about the infrastructure required to build and run AI: facilities, computing equipment, electricity, cooling and networking. The investment case is that demand for those resources may create opportunities for companies and investors that can provide them. That is a sector-level outlook, not proof that demand will persist at a particular pace or that infrastructure investments will earn attractive returns.

A secondary listing of Gray’s Bloomberg interview says he discussed AI infrastructure and a strong IPO market. Without the interview transcript or recording, the available account supports only that broad summary; it does not establish Gray’s exact wording or the context around the title phrase. AI infrastructure is more than the processors used to train models. A working system also depends on memory bandwidth, fast connections among computing components, advanced packaging, data-center capacity, electricity, cooling and high-performance networks. A shortfall in any one of these can limit how much useful computing capacity a project can deliver. WisdomTree’s May 12, 2026 commentary describes these constraints as spending shifts from training toward inference, the process of running a trained model to produce results. Its discussion reflects an asset manager’s perspective, rather than a neutral industry consensus. WisdomTree commentary

Why power and location matter
Electricity is a practical constraint on where and when new AI capacity can be deployed. In an article published September 8, 2026, Flexential reported that 89% of surveyed enterprise IT leaders said reliable grid power influences AI deployment decisions. It also said 55% ranked power cost or pricing differences as the top factor influencing AI workload location. Flexential attributes both figures to its State of AI Infrastructure Report; the original report was not separately reviewed, so these are reported survey findings, not independently verified statistics. Flexential’s AI infrastructure article
Power availability alone does not make a site suitable. Compute needs to connect to the data a workload uses, and moving data over long distances can affect latency and network demands. A site that can support power-hungry, dense training workloads may not be the best choice for inference that needs to respond quickly near its users or data. Facilities also need appropriate cooling and room to scale as equipment and workloads grow.

- Space Saving: Maximum depth: 14.8". Use the wall mount network cabinet to maximize available space for retail locations, classrooms, back offices, network cabinets, and other locations where space is limited.
- Fast Heat Dissipation: The server cabinet is designed with vents to optimize airflow and avoid critical IT equipment overheating. Heat sink holes in the top, bottom, and rear panels are more conducive to heat dissipation.
- Sturdy Construction: Robust welded frame construction for durability and long service life. With 100 lbs wall-mounted load capacity and 200 lbs ground-mounted load capacity, you can place multiple devices in the server rack cabinet as needed.
- High Security: The locked glass door ensures the security of data and equipment. Wall mount rack enclosure server cabinet is ideal for use in public places such as offices, effectively protecting the security of your devices.
- Hassle-free Installation: Fully adjustable square-hole mounting rails of the wall mount server cabinet facilitate device installation. Wiring holes on the top, bottom, and rear panels provide you with easy cable routing.
How to assess the infrastructure thesis
For a personal-finance reader, the useful distinction is between evidence of demand and evidence of investment performance. Announced capacity, planned spending or a bullish executive outlook can help explain why a sector attracts attention, but they do not by themselves establish utilization, durable economics or realized returns. The available sources do not resolve how long demand will last or whether a particular company, fund or security is attractively valued.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Power: Is electricity available reliably, and at a cost that makes operating the facility viable?
- Workload fit: Is the capacity intended for compute-intensive training, latency-sensitive inference, or both?
- Connectivity and data: Can the facility move information quickly between compute and the data the workload needs?
- Facility capability: Can it provide the required cooling and expand capacity as needed?
- Investment evidence: Are claims based on operating utilization and economics, or only on demand forecasts and announced plans?
These questions help separate the case for building AI infrastructure from the case for investing in any one asset. The former can be plausible while the latter still depends on price, execution, competition, financing and the eventual use of the capacity.
