What happened to Bitcoin on October 1?
Moneycontrol reported that Bitcoin fell to $83,362 early in the session and later recovered to just above $84,098. The outlet said the price was up 0.99% over 24 hours and 0.39% over one week. These are Moneycontrol’s October 1, 2026 market figures; they were not independently verified against exchange data.

At the same time, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $125.6 million in daily net outflows, according to Moneycontrol. The Economic Times also placed Bitcoin near $84,000 that day and noted ETF outflows alongside elevated Treasury yields and cautious spot demand.
Why did Bitcoin rise despite ETF outflows?
Moneycontrol and The Economic Times pointed to softer-than-expected U.S. personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation as a possible support for broader risk appetite. The Economic Times also identified upcoming U.S. jobs data as a potential market catalyst. These are explanations and market interpretations reported at the time, not proof that inflation data caused the price rebound.

ETF flows and the Bitcoin price measure different things over a specific window. A daily net outflow can coincide with a price increase if other buyers, market expectations or positioning support prices during that session. One day in which price and flows move in opposite directions does not show that ETF flows are unimportant or that a lasting trend has reversed.
What does the oil detail establish?
The available reporting does not verify a fall in oil prices during the Bitcoin session described above, nor does it establish a causal link between oil and Bitcoin’s rebound. The oil clause in the supplied headline should therefore be treated as unconfirmed, rather than as an explanation for the move.

Keep the October 2 price action separate
Bitfinex Alpha’s October 5 analysis described a separate episode: Bitcoin reached $87,197 on October 2 and then retreated toward $84,000. Bitfinex said futures positioning was the main driver of that attempted breakout and that spot demand did not follow through. That interpretation concerns October 2, not the October 1 recovery, and should not be used to explain it.

What investors can take from the snapshot
Moneycontrol quoted Giottus CEO Vikram Subburaj advising investors to be patient and avoid chasing sharp short-term moves. He said Bitcoin’s ability to hold the $82,000–$82,500 support zone would be important, and pointed to ETF flows, U.S. jobs data and upcoming inflation readings as signals to watch.
