Bottom line: “Bitcoin Bank” is not one uniquely identifiable service, and official warnings concern different entities, websites, jurisdictions, and dates. Before trusting any offer with that name, match its exact domain and legal company to your country’s regulator records. Several regulators have warned about specific Bitcoin Bank-named operations; those findings should not be generalized to every similarly branded service.
What does “Bitcoin Bank” refer to?
The name is used in more than one regulatory notice, but those notices do not establish that all the named operations are the same company. A warning about one domain or entity is not automatically a finding about another service using similar branding.
For a useful review, identify the exact website, the legal company named in its terms or investment offer, and the country where you live. Then check the relevant regulator’s current register and warning list. The records below are specific to the entities and jurisdictions named by each authority.

Is Bitcoin Bank legit, a scam, or regulated?
Those questions cannot be answered reliably from the name alone. The warnings provide substantial reasons for caution about the specific operations they identify, but they are not a global determination covering every service branded “Bitcoin Bank.” Likewise, a company’s use of the word “bank” does not itself establish that it is a licensed bank.
For the entity addressed by MFSA, the regulator expressly said it was not authorised for financial services requiring MFSA authorisation and advised the public to avoid business or transactions with it. For a different entity or a current offer, verify its exact legal name and domain against the regulator responsible for your jurisdiction before relying on any claim of licensing or oversight.

How to check a specific Bitcoin Bank offer
- Record the identity details. Note the complete website address, the company name in the terms and conditions, any named investment or trading product, and the country the offer targets. Do not assume that a similar name means the same company.
- Search your regulator’s official records. Check both its authorised-firm register and warning list. Search the company name and domain, and confirm that any authorisation covers the activity being offered—not merely a similarly named firm or unrelated service.
- Compare the notice with the offer. Check the regulator, jurisdiction, notice date, named entity or domain, and the activity or concern described. An old notice should be treated as historical unless the regulator’s current records say otherwise.
- Do not use a deposit or wallet connection as a test. A transaction cannot establish that a service is authorised or safe. MFSA advises against transactions with the entity it identified.
If you already sent money or connected a wallet
- Contact your bank, card issuer, or payment provider promptly to ask whether the payment can be stopped, disputed, or otherwise addressed. Options depend on payment method and timing.
- Report the matter to the relevant financial regulator or law-enforcement agency in your jurisdiction, providing the domain, company name, messages, payment details, and transaction records.
- If you connected a crypto wallet, use the wallet provider’s official guidance to review and revoke suspicious token approvals where possible. Never share a seed phrase or private key with a person or service claiming it can recover funds.
- Be wary of anyone demanding an upfront fee to recover money or promising guaranteed recovery. A recovery offer is not evidence that the claimant is affiliated with a regulator, bank, or the original platform.
