That is Farr’s forecast—not a confirmed outcome or evidence of investor consensus. The report described Bitcoin falling close to $60,000 before rebounding to around $68,000, figures that are historical snapshots from that date, not current prices.
Who says Bitcoin could go to zero?
Farr told Futurism: “Our BTC price target is 0.0,” adding, “That’s not just for shock factor. It’s where the math takes us.” He also said, “We think we are only in the early innings of the crypto correction.” These are Farr’s views as reported by Victor Tangermann on February 6, 2026; they are not a market-wide forecast or an independently established valuation.
The article also connected Farr’s warning with investor Michael Burry, who had warned in a Substack post that further Bitcoin losses could trigger a “death spiral.” Burry’s warning and Farr’s specific $0 target are distinct claims; the report does not establish that Burry made the same price forecast.
What was happening to Bitcoin’s price?
Futurism reported that Bitcoin had fallen close to $60,000 on the Thursday evening described in the February 6, 2026 article, then rebounded to around $68,000. It characterized the price as well under half the then-recent all-time high. Those figures describe the market at the time of publication and should not be read as today’s quote.

Why did Farr expect the decline to continue?
Farr’s case, as summarized in the Futurism report, combined market-flow concerns with criticism of mining economics. These are his proposed reasons for a bearish forecast, not proven causes of the reported price move.

Correlation with speculative markets
Farr described Bitcoin as a speculative instrument correlated with the Nasdaq. He raised the possibility that worsening jobs data could prompt investors to pull capital from speculative assets. The report did not establish that jobs data or Nasdaq movements caused Bitcoin’s decline.
Mining costs and resource use
Farr criticized Bitcoin mining’s energy and water use and said miners were being squeezed by electricity costs during winter storms. These points form part of his argument about pressure on the sector; they do not by themselves show that miners must sell Bitcoin or that the price must fall to zero.

Liquidity and investor interest
Deutsche Bank analyst Marion Laboure, in a note to clients quoted by Futurism, said: “This steady selling in our view signals that traditional investors are losing interest, and overall pessimism about crypto is growing.” Maja Vujinovic, FG Nexus CEO of digital assets, said: “Bitcoin isn’t trading on hype anymore, the story has lost a bit of that plot, it is trading on pure liquidity and capital flows.” These are attributed observations about market sentiment and flows, not endorsements of Farr’s target or evidence of consensus.

No. A 2026 company filing hosted by the SEC describes Bitcoin’s intended maximum supply as 21 million units and says approximately 19.75 million were in circulation as of March 31, 2026. It also states that the block subsidy was 3.125 BTC after the April 20, 2024 halving. These protocol issuance details do not establish a market-price floor. Supply rules and the price buyers and sellers agree on across independent venues are different questions.

Likewise, a sharp decline or a bearish target does not prove Bitcoin will reach zero. The Futurism article reports a forceful forecast and several concerns about market conditions, but it does not provide evidence that a zero-dollar outcome is certain or that investors generally expect one. Bitcoin.org’s FAQ discusses volatility and proof-of-work, but neither a history of large swings nor the issuance schedule settles the forecast: Bitcoin.org FAQ.
