They are not equivalent services. Binance is a custodial exchange with accounts, order books and withdrawals. Changelly primarily quotes an instant conversion and sends the result to a wallet you specify. Your country, U.S. state, asset, network and payment method can change the answer completely.

Check legal availability before comparing features
Availability is a prerequisite, not a footnote. Changelly’s Terms of Use list the United States and its territories, the United Kingdom, Germany, India, Japan, Turkey, Hong Kong, Austria, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Yemen, Iran, Iraq, Syria, North Korea, Cuba and Crimea among restricted locations. Changelly may also deny service where required by law or at its discretion.
U.S. readers should compare eligible services with Binance.US, not assume that Binance.com and Binance.US have the same fees, coins or products. Binance.US publishes a state-by-state list at its availability page. As of June 3, 2026, it lists Alaska, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Vermont and Washington, plus certain territories, as unsupported; Kansas and Wisconsin are identified as crypto-only states for some services. Check the live page before depositing money.
What Binance provides
Binance uses an account and custody model: you register, complete the applicable identity checks, fund the account, trade against an order book and request a withdrawal when you want self-custody. Depending on the regional entity, products can include spot markets, advanced charts, multiple order types, recurring purchases, APIs, derivatives, margin or staking. None of those products should be assumed available in every country or on Binance.US.

For Binance.US, the account path is described in its verification guide. Complete the required level, enable two-factor authentication, review your personalized limits and confirm the withdrawal network before sending funds. Basic and Advanced Verification can have different limits and feature access.
What Changelly provides
Changelly’s standard flow is designed for a conversion rather than continuous trading. Its overview describes the process:
- Choose the input and output assets.
- Select a fixed or floating rate.
- Enter the recipient wallet address.
- Confirm the transaction and receive a generated deposit address.
- Send the requested asset on the stated network.
- Wait for blockchain confirmations and processing, then check the status and transaction hash.
Minimums are dynamic and depend on rates and market conditions. Sending slightly more than the displayed minimum can reduce low-amount failures, but never exceed an amount you have independently confirmed.
Fixed versus floating rates
A fixed quote is intended to preserve the displayed output, but the payment must use the correct asset and network, the required amount and the stated time window. Changelly’s transaction documentation describes an on-chain arrival period of roughly 15–20 minutes depending on the input currency. A late, short or incorrectly routed payment can expire or require manual support.

A floating quote can finish higher or lower than the estimate as the market moves during confirmation and processing. It is generally more flexible; fixed rate prioritizes output certainty and includes a pricing buffer.
Compare total cost, not the advertised fee
Binance costs can include the maker/taker trading fee, volume or VIP tier, any BNB discount, deposit and withdrawal charges, blockchain costs, payment-provider charges and spread or slippage in a simplified buy or convert screen. Binance.US explains its maker/taker model at this guide and current fees at its fee schedule. In April 2026, Binance.US announced 0% maker and 0.02% taker Advanced Trading spot fees or lower on more than 250 eligible pairs, without a subscription or volume requirement; pair eligibility and promotions can change.
Changelly’s terms describe a 0.25% exchange fee on floating-rate transactions, although API-partner transactions can differ. Network fees are separate. Fixed-rate quotes include the cost of guaranteeing the amount, and the quoted spread, market movement, minimums and blockchain fee affect what arrives. For fiat purchases, Changelly says the minimum fee is 4%; the provider, country, pair, payment method, exchange rate and other factors determine the final charge. Details appear at checkout through third-party providers, as explained in its purchase FAQ.
A reproducible cost comparison
For the same $1,000 BTC purchase or the same ETH-to-USDC swap, record both interfaces at the same time and in the same jurisdiction:

- Input amount, asset and network
- Displayed rate and platform fee
- Network, card, bank or provider charges
- Final amount received and quoted minimum
- Timestamp, country or state and payment method
Do not call either service cheaper without this dated, like-for-like result.
Trading functionality and liquidity
Binance is the practical choice for day trading, limit orders, chart-based execution, repeated rebalancing or systematic workflows. An order book lets you choose how to enter and exit, although market impact and available liquidity still matter. API access and automated features depend on the relevant Binance edition.
Changelly’s core product is not an order-book venue. It is a poor match for price-making, limit-order strategies, high-frequency execution, detailed exchange-native order management or institutional controls. Its quote is convenient, but you have less direct control over the liquidity source and execution path.
Speed, custody and operational risk
Changelly says standard swaps usually take about 5–40 minutes after it receives the funds and required confirmations. Congestion, insufficient confirmations, a moving rate, provider problems or a manual review can extend that period. Binance timing includes deposit confirmations, account crediting, order execution, withdrawal processing, the chosen chain, banking rails and compliance checks. Compare the time until funds are usable, not the time needed to click “submit.”

With Binance, the exchange holds your balance until withdrawal, so account security, password hygiene, two-factor authentication and withdrawal controls matter. With Changelly, the normal output goes to your wallet, but you must send the exact asset and network to the current deposit address. Changelly warns that pay-in addresses are non-reusable; sending to an old address can require a manual push or refund and may take one to two working days. Neither model removes counterparty, blockchain, market or user-error risk.
KYC, AML and transaction holds
It is inaccurate to describe Changelly as universally anonymous or “no-KYC.” Its terms reserve AML/KYC procedures, and its troubleshooting guidance explains that risk-scored transactions can be held pending verification. A transaction may be reviewed even if an earlier one was not. Binance account verification is expected from the start, with limits and features tied to the completed level.
For a large transfer, retain source-of-funds records and choose a service whose compliance process you can complete before sending. “Instant” describes the intended workflow, not guaranteed finality.

“Supported coin” is incomplete information. Verify the exact asset, chain, deposit direction, withdrawal direction, memo or destination tag, minimum deposit, minimum withdrawal and network fee on both sides. A wallet that supports USDT on one chain may not support it on another.

Warning: USDT-ERC20, USDT-TRC20, USDT on BNB Smart Chain and other versions are not interchangeable by default. Sending the wrong network, address or missing memo can make recovery impossible. Changelly’s general FAQ covers wrong-network, wrong-asset and memo/tag cases.
Common failure branches
- Wrong network or address: contact the relevant platform immediately with the blockchain hash, transaction ID, asset, network and destination. Recovery is not guaranteed.
- Floating-rate output is lower: market movement, spread, processing time and network costs changed the final amount; compare a live fixed quote before sending.
- Fixed-rate expiry: the payment arrived late, used a different amount or lacked confirmation within the window; support may be required.
- KYC hold: funds were received but risk controls paused settlement; follow the provider’s verification request and keep documentation.
- U.S. eligibility failure: a visible website or quote does not override state, product or payment restrictions.
Which should you use?
Choose Binance when
- You trade regularly or need market and limit orders.
- You want charts, order history, recurring purchases or other exchange controls.
- You need predictable account-based deposits, withdrawals and tax records.
- The applicable Binance entity is legally available where you live.
Choose Changelly when
- You need a straightforward crypto-to-crypto conversion.
- You already control a compatible destination wallet.
- You accept a quoted spread, network charge and possible compliance review.
- Your jurisdiction is permitted and the exact asset-network route is supported.
Pause and check alternatives when
- You are in the United States and considering Changelly under its current restricted-location terms.
- The transfer is large or time-sensitive enough that a hold or rate movement would be costly.
- You cannot independently verify the destination network.
- You need local fiat rails, regulated reporting or products unavailable on either service.
U.S. users can compare eligible state-supported exchanges such as Coinbase, Kraken or Gemini; experienced self-custody users can consider wallet-native swaps or DEX aggregators, while accounting for gas, slippage, token approvals and smart-contract risk.
Safer-use checklist
- Confirm legal and state availability for the exact product.
- Check the asset, network, memo or tag, minimum and maximum.
- Compare final output after every fee, not the headline percentage.
- Use a fresh, verified destination address and send a small test amount when the wallet is unfamiliar.
- For Changelly, use only the current transaction address and meet the stated fixed-rate window.
- Enable 2FA on an exchange account and never disclose a seed phrase or private key.
- Save the transaction ID, blockchain hash, quote and payment records.
The Bottom Line
Binance is the stronger general-purpose trading venue where the relevant regional entity is available. Changelly is a convenience-first swap service, not a substitute for an order-book exchange. The responsible choice is the one that is legal in your jurisdiction and delivers the better final amount for your exact asset, network and payment method.
