No—not for a publisher looking to join now. BigCommerce discontinued its publisher Affiliate Program on May 17, 2025, disabled its tracking links that day, and says it has no replacement planned at this time. The old offer is no longer a dependable way to earn commissions from new referrals.
What happened to the BigCommerce Affiliate Program?
BigCommerce’s Affiliate Program Closure notice says the company discontinued the program effective May 17, 2025, citing business strategy and operational needs. It also says BigCommerce tracking links were disabled on that date.
Referrals made before closure could qualify for commission payouts through August 16, 2025, after the 90-day cookie window. That transition period has passed. In its FAQ, BigCommerce answered the question of whether it would launch a replacement program with: “There are no plans at this time.” That describes the company’s position in the notice; it is not a guarantee about future policy.
Can new publishers still earn BigCommerce referral commissions?
BigCommerce’s closure notice does not support treating the former publisher program as open to new applicants or new referrals. A publisher should not place old tracking links, promise readers a BigCommerce referral offer, or project income from the discontinued program. Check BigCommerce’s official closure page for any policy update before relying on a change in status.

There is no current publisher commission rate, cookie duration, or payout schedule established for a replacement offer. The historical 90-day cookie window applied to qualifying pre-closure referrals; it does not make links active today.
Does BigCommerce’s “20% commission” partner offer apply to affiliates?
No such conclusion is supported by the current partner-page reference. BigCommerce’s partner page displays “20% commission” in the context of its agency and technology partner ecosystem, which includes prospect registration, sandbox stores, enablement, and sales support. The page does not establish that this is a publisher affiliate rate or that it reopens the discontinued program.
BigCommerce’s developer documentation distinguishes these roles: affiliate partners promote BigCommerce using referral links and marketing materials, agencies build ecommerce solutions for clients, and technology partners create themes, apps, and integrations. Similar partner labels do not make the offers interchangeable. Anyone considering an agency or technology partnership should confirm eligibility and exact terms directly rather than assume it is an alternative publisher program.
What can BigCommerce merchants use to run their own affiliate program?
Merchants who want affiliates to promote their own stores have a separate use case. BigCommerce’s app marketplace affiliate-marketing listings include tools such as GoAffPro and impact.com that can help merchants recruit, track, or manage affiliates for their stores.
These are merchant-side tools, not evidence that BigCommerce pays publishers for referring customers to BigCommerce. The listings do not establish the vendors’ current pricing, terms for recommending their products, or availability of vendor affiliate commissions. Verify those details with each vendor before making a business decision.
Does BigCommerce pricing change the affiliate-program verdict?
No. A store subscription price is unrelated to whether publishers can earn commissions under the closed program. BigCommerce’s US pricing page lists the following figures as of October 8, 2026; prices and plan terms can change.

The pricing page also describes additional fees for orders processed with open payment providers on self-service plans; it says embedded payment providers listed by BigCommerce do not incur that additional order fee. The former affiliate offer may matter to publishers evaluating monetization, but it is not currently a basis for recommending BigCommerce in exchange for referral income. A merchant choosing an ecommerce platform should evaluate the platform on its own fit and costs, not on a publisher commission that has ended. Store owners seeking affiliate functionality should investigate merchant-side apps separately and confirm their features and terms.
