This BHU recruitment is closed. The university’s 2023–24 Advertisement No. 20/2023-2024 covered 258 non-teaching Group A and Group B vacancies. Although the original online deadline was 22 January 2024, BHU extended it to 5 February 2024; the hard-copy deadline was extended to 10 February 2024. Both dates have passed as of 8 October 2026. A current opening would require a separate, current BHU notice.
What the BHU 258-post recruitment covered
Banaras Hindu University’s Advertisement No. 20/2023-2024, dated 22 December 2023, invited applications for non-teaching Group A and Group B posts. Scroll reported the total as 258 vacancies, distributed among the following roles. The figures describe that recruitment drive, not current vacancies.

What were the application deadlines?
The original BHU notice set 22 January 2024 at 5:00 p.m. as the online application and fee deadline, and 27 January 2024 at 5:00 p.m. for the downloaded application with enclosures. BHU later extended these deadlines: online submission and fee payment were due by 5 February 2024 at 5:00 p.m., and the hard copy by 10 February 2024 at 5:00 p.m., according to Scroll’s 22 January 2024 extension report. Those deadlines have expired.

How the application process worked
Applicants had to complete both online and paper steps. The notice directed candidates to BHU’s Recruitment and Assessment Cell portal to register, fill in the electronic form, pay any applicable fee, and submit the completed application online. Candidates also had to download the form and send it with the required enclosures to the Registrar, Recruitment and Assessment Cell, Holkar House, BHU, Varanasi.
- A separate application was required for each position.
- The uploaded photograph and signature had to be JPEG files, each no larger than 50 KB.
- The notice warned that incomplete applications could be rejected and that submitted forms could not be changed after final submission.
These requirements are from the official BHU advertisement; they describe the closed 2024 process, not an open application portal.
Eligibility and selection depended on the post
The advertisement set different qualifications, experience requirements, age limits, and reservation provisions by role. For example, Nursing Officer eligibility included a qualifying nursing degree or diploma, State Nursing Council registration, and relevant hospital experience; engineering and library roles had different criteria. Applicants needed to consult the relevant post entry in the official notice rather than rely on a single eligibility rule for all 258 vacancies.

For the 2024 advertisement, the fee depended on the post group and applicant category. BHU listed online payment by internet banking, debit card, credit card, or UPI.

The 258-post announcement and its application portal are historical. If you are looking for a job now, check BHU’s current recruitment notices and confirm the advertisement number, post-specific eligibility, deadlines, fee rules, and application instructions in the latest official notice before acting. The sources for this 2024 drive do not establish whether BHU has since advertised similar vacancies.
