This is a historical U.S. deal snapshot from March 2024—not a current deals page. The clearest no-strings-attached offer was Best Buy’s unlocked 128GB Galaxy S23 for $599.99, reduced from $699.99. Verizon advertised the 128GB model at $0 after up to $700 in promotional credits over 36 months, but only with an eligible line and plan. Samsung advertised up to $525 off the Galaxy S23+ with an eligible trade-in, while Amazon offered more than $250 off an unlocked 256GB Galaxy S23 Ultra, according to a March 12 roundup. The best Galaxy S23 deal overall
For most buyers, the best March 2024 deal was the unlocked Samsung Galaxy S23 128GB at Best Buy for $599.99, down from a $699.99 reference price. That is an immediate $100 reduction with no mandatory trade-in and no new wireless line.

Treat those as bonuses—not as a reduction in the phone’s cash price—and check whether a subscription will auto-renew after its trial period.
Check Best Buy’s official phone listings only as a current retailer destination; the $599.99 price was reported for March 2024 and is not evidence of today’s inventory or pricing.
Best carrier deal: Verizon’s “free” Galaxy S23
Verizon advertised the 128GB Galaxy S23 at no device cost after up to $700 in bill credits over 36 months. The promotion did not require a trade-in according to the dated coverage, but it required an eligible new line on an Unlimited Welcome, Unlimited Plus or Unlimited Ultimate plan. This could be worthwhile for someone already committed to Verizon and already needing an additional line. It is usually a weaker deal for someone switching solely to obtain the phone, or for anyone who might cancel, change plans or leave Verizon before the 36 months end. Remaining credits may be forfeited when promotional conditions are no longer met, and taxes, activation charges and other fees can still apply.
Best Samsung.com trade-in offer
Samsung’s March 2024 promotion advertised up to $525 off the Galaxy S23+ with an eligible trade-in. “Up to” is critical: the maximum depended on the old phone’s exact model, condition and eligibility. It was not a universal $525 discount for every Galaxy S23 buyer.
Samsung applies an estimated trade-in credit to a qualifying purchase after you select the device being traded in. The final value can depend on inspection and whether the submitted phone matches the information entered at checkout. Review Samsung’s trade-in requirements and condition and eligibility information before shipping an old device.

Compare Samsung’s quoted credit with the old phone’s likely private-sale value, then include shipping deadlines, inspection risk and the price of the replacement phone. A carrier may advertise a larger promotional credit but require an expensive unlimited plan and spread the benefit across 24 or 36 months.

Best Galaxy S23 Ultra cash discount
The March 12 roundup identified an unlocked 256GB Galaxy S23 Ultra at Amazon for more than $250 off. That was the strongest reported cash discount for the Ultra, but marketplace listings require more scrutiny than a straightforward retailer promotion.
Before buying, verify that the listing is:
- New rather than renewed, refurbished or open-box, unless that is intentional.
- Sold by Amazon or a seller with a clear reputation and return policy.
- A U.S. model with appropriate network bands and warranty coverage.
- Actually unlocked, with the storage capacity stated as 256GB.
An imported international model can have different software, warranty support, network compatibility or payment-service features. Do not treat a third-party marketplace price as equivalent to a new U.S. unlocked phone until those details are confirmed.

These savings are not interchangeable. An instant $100 price reduction, a trade-in credit, a monthly bill credit and a subscription trial each have different cash value and risk.

Which Galaxy S23 model is covered?
The standard Galaxy S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra are different phones and storage configurations. The Galaxy S23 FE is a separate, more value-oriented model; it should not silently replace the standard S23 in a deal comparison.

In general, the S23 offers the lowest entry price, the S23+ adds a larger display and battery, and the Ultra provides the most advanced camera system and S Pen-focused design. Compare like with like: an S23 128GB price should not be presented as a cheaper alternative to an S23 Ultra 256GB.

Yes, at the right price. The Galaxy S24 launched in January 2024, making the older S23 more attractive when the discount was substantial. The S23 still offered flagship-level performance, an efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy platform, high-quality AMOLED displays and capable cameras.
The S24 could nevertheless be the better purchase if its price was close to the discounted S23. Buyers who prioritize newer hardware, newer software features or the longest remaining support runway should compare the actual March 2024 price gap rather than assuming the older phone is automatically better value.

Choosing storage
- 128GB: the lowest-cost choice and sufficient for lighter app use, cloud storage and ordinary photography.
- 256GB: preferable when the price difference is modest, especially for games, photos and offline media.
- 512GB: most relevant to Ultra buyers who record substantial video or keep large media libraries locally.
A free storage upgrade and a cash discount are different benefits. State both the capacity and the final price when comparing offers.
How to avoid a bad S23 deal
- Identify the exact phone: S23, S23+, Ultra or FE; then confirm storage.
- Check lock status: do not assume every carrier model is permanently locked or unlocked. Policies vary by carrier and purchase terms.
- Separate phone savings from service costs: calculate the required plan, line cost, taxes, activation fees and financing.
- Read bill-credit conditions: note the credit duration and what happens after cancellation, payoff or a plan change.
- Evaluate the trade-in realistically: enter the exact model and condition, and compare the credit with a private-sale estimate.
- Document the old phone: back it up, remove accounts, factory-reset it and photograph its condition before shipment.
- Verify marketplace details: seller, U.S. model number, new versus renewed condition, warranty provider and return deadline.
- Review subscription terms: trial bonuses may auto-renew unless canceled.
- Confirm availability date: a March 12 deal may have changed later in the month.

Samsung’s March 2024 U.S. MSRP file can provide reference pricing, but MSRP is not necessarily the live street price. No. The S23 FE is a distinct model with different hardware and positioning. Its price should not be used as the standard Galaxy S23’s deal price.
