Best Buy’s Black Friday page names November 27, 2026, as its after-Thanksgiving sale date and says the 2025 event is over as it plans for 2026. The page does not confirm a PS5 discount. That date is a retailer event date, not proof that a particular console will be on sale.

Which PS5 model should you compare?
First decide whether you want a disc drive. It affects which games you can buy, whether you can use physical games you already own, and whether you can shop for used or resold discs. The Digital Edition’s lower console price may not be the lower-cost choice if you later add a compatible disc drive.

How to tell whether an offer is actually a good deal
Compare the same model and SKU across retailers, including the regular-price reference and the date you checked it. A bundle’s sticker price cannot be fairly compared with a bare console unless you account for what is included and whether you would buy those items anyway.
- Console and disc drive: Confirm the model, storage and included drive. For a Digital Edition with a separate drive, add that cost if disc use matters to you.
- Final cost: Compare the price after applicable tax, shipping, or pickup costs—not just the advertised price.
- Bundle value: Identify every included game or accessory. Check whether a game is a disc or a digital code, and count its value only if you want it.
- Seller and stock: Check who is selling the console and whether it is available. Marketplace seller terms may differ from the retailer’s own.
- Timing and terms: Check delivery or pickup timing, return conditions, and any membership, coupon, or price-match requirements at checkout.
Sony says prices and availability can vary by retailer and promotion period. Its 2025 Black Friday announcement showed the range of possible promotions, including consoles, controllers, PlayStation Portal, games, and PlayStation Plus, but does not promise those categories or prices will return in 2026.

What last year’s PS5 offers can—and cannot—tell you
2025 promotions show that PS5 discounts have happened, but they are historical examples, not a forecast of 2026 prices:
- Target said its 2025 Black Friday experience ran November 23–29 and advertised “Save $100 on PlayStation 5 consoles” in its November 2025 holiday announcement.
- Sony’s 2025 promotion listed recommended retail prices of $399.99 USD for the PS5 Digital Edition 825GB Fortnite Flowering Chaos Bundle and $449.99 USD for the PS5 1TB Fortnite Flowering Chaos Bundle. It also advertised $100 USD in savings on PS5 Pro. These were offers for the named 2025 promotion, not current prices.
- Amazon’s 2025 Black Friday announcement said its Black Friday Week and Cyber Monday event ran November 20–December 1 and named PlayStation among brands with low prices. It did not specify a PS5 model or console price.
Those announcements establish that retailers and Sony promoted PlayStation offers in 2025; they do not establish a typical discount or what any retailer will offer in 2026. Target’s 2025 Holiday Price Match Guarantee ran November 1–December 24 and covered a lower later Target price on a qualifying purchase, subject to its terms. Should you buy now or wait for Black Friday?
If you need a console soon, a verified offer on the exact model you want may be more useful than waiting for an unannounced discount. If you can wait, monitor the same retailer listings through Black Friday week and compare any new offer against the dated reference price—not against a discount claim with no clear comparison.
For a Digital Edition, consider how often you buy digital games and whether owning discs matters to you. For a Slim disc console, value physical games and existing discs in your decision. For the Pro, decide whether its higher-tier performance and display features justify its higher reference price for your setup. In any bundle, subtract the value of games or accessories you would not otherwise purchase before calling it savings.

Recheck the live listing at checkout. A deal is only useful if the console is in stock from a seller you trust, arrives when you need it, and remains worthwhile after shipping, tax, and any conditions attached to the advertised price.
