Cheapest new iPad: iPad with A16 for $399
The 11-inch iPad with A16 and 128GB of storage is the lowest verified mainstream new-iPad price: $399 at Amazon, compared with the reported regular price of $449. MacRumors reported the deal.
It is a sensible budget choice for streaming, browsing, email, schoolwork, video calls, games, and ordinary tablet use. It also avoids paying for performance many casual users may not need.
The trade-off is that it is not an iPad Air or iPad Pro. Buyers who edit demanding video, use large creative applications, or keep many large games installed may get better long-term value from an Air, particularly the 256GB version.
Best overall value: 11-inch iPad Air with M4
Best Buy lists the 11-inch iPad Air with M4 at $709 for 128GB and $799 for 256GB. The current Air generation uses Apple’s M4 chip; M3 Air models are previous-generation stock or refurbished alternatives.

Choose the Air over the entry iPad if you want a faster processor, more headroom for demanding apps, or a tablet better suited to increasingly demanding software.
Best large-screen deal: 13-inch iPad Air
The 13-inch iPad Air with M4 costs $899 for 128GB or $989 for 256GB at Best Buy. It has the same M4 chip as the 11-inch Air, so the extra cost primarily buys a larger display.
The 13-inch model may suit split-screen work, digital sheet music, drawing, spreadsheets, reading documents, and watching video. It is not a performance upgrade over the 11-inch Air.

Compare the complete setup cost. An iPad keyboard, case, Apple Pencil, and AppleCare+ can add substantially to the purchase price. If you only need a portable screen for browsing and streaming, the $399 entry iPad may leave more room in your budget for accessories.

The M3 Air is not the current Air generation—the current model is M4—but a $589 refurbished unit may appeal if you want Air performance without paying new-M4 pricing.
Apple says its Certified Refurbished iOS devices receive full functional testing, genuine Apple replacement parts where needed, a new battery and outer shell, accessories, free shipping and returns, and the standard one-year limited warranty. Compare refurbished storage and generation with current new-device deals, not just the headline price.
Why the $199 T-Mobile iPad is not a $199 standalone deal
T-Mobile has a reported $199 price for the 11-inch iPad with A16, but the offer requires a new tablet line and a $25-per-month unlimited accessory plan. TechRadar reported the offer. It is a service promotion, not an unlocked Wi-Fi iPad available to every buyer.
At $25 per month, service costs $300 over 12 months, before taxes, fees, or additional conditions. Adding that amount to the $199 device price gives a first-year cost of at least $499 before those extras. Someone who already needs cellular data may find the arrangement useful; someone who only wants a Wi-Fi tablet should compare it with the $399 outright purchase.

How to compare an iPad deal correctly
- Write down the exact model. “iPad,” “iPad Air,” and “iPad Pro” are different product tiers. The entry model is officially the iPad with A16; “iPad 11” is commonly used by retailers but is not Apple’s formal model name.
- Include storage. A 128GB iPad Air cannot be compared directly with a 256GB model. Storage is one of the most important differences between apparently similar deals.
- Separate Wi-Fi from cellular. Cellular iPads cost more and may require a data plan. Do not compare a carrier price directly with a Wi-Fi-only price.
- Calculate required services. Include monthly tablet lines, activation charges, installment payments, and the value of any trade-in before calling an offer a discount.
- Check who is selling the device. On marketplaces, confirm whether the product is sold by the retailer or a third-party seller, and whether it is new, refurbished, or open-box.

Apple payment and trade-in options
Apple’s direct-buy page offers Apple Card Monthly Installments at 0% APR over 12 months, Apple Trade In, education pricing, and Certified Refurbished products. These options can improve cash flow or reduce the upfront payment, but they do not automatically make Apple the cheapest source of a new iPad.
