The standout deal in this June 2025 U.S. price snapshot was Sony’s WH-1000XM5 at $298 from Walmart or $299 from Best Buy. It offered a substantial saving on a still-capable premium noise-cancelling headphone, while the newer WH-1000XM6 had launched at $449. Other notable picks included Bose QuietComfort Wireless at $249, AirPods Pro 2 at $169 and the Soundcore Life Q20 at $39. These are historical prices reported in June 2025, not live offers; check the retailer’s current price, seller and item condition before buying.

Which over-ear headphone deal is worth choosing?
Sony WH-1000XM5: strongest all-round premium value
At $298 from Walmart or $299 from Best Buy, the WH-1000XM5 was the clearest premium value in this group. The cited deal listing put it at $399 normally, making the Walmart reduction $101. It combines adaptive ANC, multipoint connectivity, call features and Sony’s companion-app options. It is not the newest Sony flagship: the XM6 launched in May 2025 at a U.S. list price of $449. At the observed XM5 price, the older model was the value choice for shoppers who did not need the newer design or features; this is not a claim that the XM5 is better overall.

Bose QuietComfort Wireless: comfort-first ANC for less
The Bose QuietComfort Wireless was listed at $249 at Best Buy, down from $349. Its cited features include adjustable ANC, multipoint pairing, USB-C charging, customizable EQ and up to 24 hours of battery life. It is the more cost-conscious Bose option if comfort and straightforward noise cancellation matter more than the Ultra model’s spatial audio and higher-end processing.
Sennheiser Momentum 4: prioritize long battery life
At $299 from Amazon against a listed prior price of $379, the Momentum 4 was a strong option for music listeners and frequent travelers who value battery life. Sennheiser cited up to 60 hours, plus ANC, 42mm drivers and EQ controls in its Smart Control app. Battery life is an “up to” figure and can vary with settings and use. Choose it for the combination of sound and endurance rather than assuming it will outperform Bose or Sony at reducing every kind of noise.
Rank #2
- LONG BATTERY LIFE: With up to 50-hour battery life and quick charging, you’ll have enough power for multi-day road trips and long festival weekends.(USB Type-C Cable included)
- HIGH QUALITY SOUND: Great sound quality customizable to your music preference with EQ Custom on the Sony | Headphones Connect App.
- LIGHT & COMFORTABLE: The lightweight build and swivel earcups gently slip on and off, while the adjustable headband, cushion and soft ear pads give you all-day comfort.
- CRYSTAL CLEAR CALLS: A built-in microphone provides you with hands-free calling. No need to even take your phone from your pocket.
- MULTIPOINT CONNECTION: Quickly switch between two devices at once.
Beats Studio Pro: a flexible alternative to AirPods Max
The Studio Pro was listed at $249 from Amazon or Best Buy, compared with a stated $349 reference price. It includes ANC, personalized spatial audio, USB-C lossless audio and a 3.5mm connection, and supports Apple and Android devices. For someone who wants an Apple-adjacent design and broad device compatibility without paying AirPods Max money, it is the more affordable over-ear alternative. Compatibility does not mean every Apple-specific feature works identically on Android.
AirPods Max: a notable discount, not a low-cost buy
The USB-C AirPods Max was listed at $449 at Walmart, with Best Buy at $479 and Apple at $549. The $100 Walmart reduction was real against the cited $549 reference price, but $449 remains a premium purchase. The comparison with Sony’s XM6 lists AirPods Max at 385g and 20 hours of ANC-on battery life, versus 254g and 30 hours for the XM6. Those differences matter for long listening sessions and travel. Consider AirPods Max when Apple integration and its over-ear experience are priorities, not simply because the price is marked down.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra: premium features, small markdown
The QuietComfort Ultra was listed at $399 from Amazon, down from $429. It adds spatial audio and CustomTune alongside ANC and aware mode; Bose’s cited battery rating was up to 24 hours. A $30 reduction makes it a somewhat discounted premium option, not the standout bargain. If you do not specifically want its premium features, the $249 standard QuietComfort is the more compelling value in the cited prices.
Best earbud deals by ecosystem and fit
AirPods Pro 2: the Apple pick for sealed fit and ANC
The USB-C AirPods Pro 2 was listed at $169 from Amazon, versus a cited $249 reference price. It is the Apple-earbud choice here for people who want ANC, a sealed in-ear fit and Apple device integration. If silicone tips are uncomfortable or you prefer to hear more of your surroundings, the open-fit AirPods 4 may suit you better, though an open fit provides less isolation.

AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with ANC: choose by how much isolation you want
The standard AirPods 4 was listed at $99, down from $129. The ANC version was $149, down from $179. The standard model is the simpler pick for Apple users who dislike silicone tips; the ANC version is the more suitable of the two if noise reduction matters. Neither open-fit option seals the ear like AirPods Pro 2, so fit and isolation are different trade-offs rather than just a price difference.
Galaxy Buds 3 Pro: best fit for compatible Samsung devices
At $189 from Amazon, down from a cited $249, Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offered ANC, ambient mode, IP57 water and sweat resistance, 360-degree audio and Samsung-specific 24-bit audio support. Some codec and ecosystem features depend on compatible Galaxy hardware, so they should not be treated as universal Android benefits. They are the most natural pick for Galaxy phone or tablet owners who will use those features.
Best Value
- Block the World, Keep the Music: Four built-in mics work together to filter out background noise — whether you're in a packed office, on a crowded commute, or moving through a busy street — so every beat comes through clean and clear. (Not available in AUX-in mode.)
- Two Ways to Hear More: BassUp technology delivers deep, punchy bass and crisp highs in wireless mode — then step it up further by plugging in the included AUX cable to unlock Hi‑Res certified audio for studio-level clarity.
- 40 Hours. 5-Minute Top-Up: With ANC on, a single charge keeps you listening through days of commutes and long-haul flights. Running low? Just 5 minutes plugged in gives you 4 more hours — so you're never stuck waiting.
- Two Devices, Zero Hassle: Stay connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. Audio switches automatically to whichever device needs you — so a call never interrupts your flow, and getting back to your playlist is just as easy. Designed for commuters and remote workers who move smoothly between work and personal listening throughout the day.
- Your Sound, Your Rules: The soundcore app puts everything at your fingertips — dials your ideal EQ with presets or build your own, flip between ANC, Normal, and Transparency modes on the fly, or wind down with built-in white noise. One app, total control.
Best cheap headphones and budget ANC
Below $50: basic listening or inexpensive ANC
The Sony WH-CH520 was listed at $38 from Amazon, down from $59, with up to 50 hours of battery life claimed. It is the basic wireless choice when ANC is unnecessary. The Soundcore Life Q20 was listed at $39, down from $59, and offered up to 40 hours claimed battery life plus ANC. It is a low-cost way to try noise reduction, but do not expect premium performance for voices, wind or calls.
More budget options: verify the checkout price and fit
- Sony WH-CH720N: listed at $87 against $149, but the deal price was shown in cart. Confirm it appears before checkout and check that the final seller and condition are acceptable.
- JBL Live 670NC: listed at $89 against $129, with up to 65 hours claimed battery life. It is an on-ear ANC alternative; on-ear comfort varies by listener.
- Beats Solo 4: listed at $129 against $199, with up to 50 hours claimed battery life. It is a non-ANC alternative for shoppers seeking Beats branding and a longer stated battery life.
The cited deal listings for these additional budget models appear in Laptop Mag’s roundup and Best Buy’s headphone sale listings. Up-to battery figures are manufacturer-style claims, not guarantees of runtime in every configuration.
Choose by use case, not by discount percentage
- Frequent flyer: Start with the WH-1000XM5 for the strongest overall value in the listed over-ear deals, or consider the Momentum 4 if its up-to-60-hour battery rating is your priority. ANC is most effective against steady low-frequency sounds such as aircraft or train rumble; it will not erase every voice or sudden sound.
- Office worker or commuter: Compare the Sony XM5 and Bose QuietComfort by comfort, fit, controls and how each handles your own environment. A retailer’s discount alone cannot determine which ANC or call experience will suit you.
- iPhone, iPad or Mac owner: AirPods Pro 2 is the portable ANC pick; AirPods 4 suits an open-fit preference. AirPods Max makes sense chiefly if you specifically want Apple’s over-ear experience and accept its cost and weight.
- Android or mixed-device household: Sony, Bose, Sennheiser, Beats and Sonos are generally safer cross-platform starting points. Check multipoint and microphone behavior with your actual phone and computer, particularly for work calls.
- Samsung Galaxy owner: Galaxy Buds 3 Pro is the ecosystem pick when you have compatible Galaxy devices to access its device-dependent features.
- Student or $50 budget: Choose the WH-CH520 if basic wireless listening is enough; choose Life Q20 if you want inexpensive ANC and accept its limitations.
- Gym user: Earbuds are easier to carry and more suitable for exercise than bulky over-ear headphones, but fit is decisive. Check the product’s stated water resistance and retailer return terms; do not assume a discounted price makes earbuds fit your ears.
- Buyer who dislikes ear tips: AirPods 4’s open fit avoids silicone tips, but gives up the stronger seal of AirPods Pro 2. Open-ear and open-fit designs are not substitutes for ANC when isolation is the goal.
What makes a headphone discount a good deal?
A percentage off is only one part of value. Compare the sale price with a credible reference price, then ask whether the model remains a sensible buy next to newer or cheaper alternatives. The XM5’s appeal, for example, came from its roughly $300 price relative to the XM6’s $449 launch price, not simply from the size of its markdown.
- Confirm the exact model, generation, color and whether the offer applies only to one SKU.
- Check whether the price requires a coupon, a cart adjustment, membership or another condition.
- Verify that the item is new rather than refurbished or open-box, and check who sells and ships it.
- Review shipping, taxes, return terms and warranty coverage before comparing final costs.
- Check that the retailer still has stock; historical deal coverage is not proof of current availability.
- For earbuds, prioritize fit and return policy. For work, check microphone performance separately from music quality.
ANC works best on steady, low-frequency noise; a good ear-tip seal or earcup fit still matters. Budget models may reduce rumble without matching premium headphones for voices, wind handling or call quality. Some listeners also find ANC pressure sensations or processing artifacts uncomfortable. Try a safe, comfortable listening level rather than treating stronger ANC or louder playback as automatically better.

Quick Recap
Deals to approach cautiously
- AirPods Max for a non-Apple buyer: A discount does not make its ecosystem fit, weight or high price irrelevant. A broadly compatible headphone may be a better match.
- Bose QuietComfort Ultra at only $30 off: Its premium features may justify it for some buyers, but the cited standard QuietComfort was $150 less.
- Cheap ANC when calls are essential: Noise reduction, transparency and microphone quality are separate performance questions; the listed deal facts do not establish budget models as strong call headsets.
- Any listing with unclear condition or seller: Marketplace, open-box and refurbished offers can have different warranties and return terms. Do not compare them as if they were new retail products.
- General-purpose Bluetooth headphones for gaming: The listed models are not verified here for console compatibility, latency or gaming microphone performance. Check those requirements separately before buying.
