You may be able to get a Galaxy Z Flip7 for $0 after carrier bill credits, but the current evidence does not establish a live carrier offer that makes it free. Samsung’s U.S. store lists the previous-generation Flip7 from $1,099.99 before trade-in and advertises up to $600 in trade-in credit. That is a discount, not a free unlocked phone—and the credit you qualify for depends on your device and the offer at checkout.
What is the best verified Galaxy Z Flip7 deal?
For an unlocked purchase, Samsung.com is the clearest currently documented option: the 256GB model is listed at $1,099.99 before trade-in, and Samsung advertises up to $600 in trade-in credit. At that maximum, the illustrative device balance is $499.99 before taxes and any optional protection. Your actual credit may be lower, and Samsung’s pages have shown different maximums, including up to $620 on one purchase page. Check the exact configuration and trade-in quote before ordering.
Samsung’s pages also show configuration and carrier-SKU availability can vary. Check the specific listing before counting on a color or model being in stock. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 purchase page · Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 offers

Do not compare a headline trade-in credit with another seller’s phone price alone. Calculate the total cost you would actually incur:
Net cost = phone price − trade-in credit − guaranteed instant discounts or gift cards + taxes and fees + any required increase in plan cost + remaining payments on your old phone.
For a carrier deal, count the plan premium only if you would not otherwise keep that plan. A large credit can be a poor deal if it requires a new line or pricier service. Also account for activation or upgrade fees, loss of existing account discounts, and any old-device payoff.
Example: Samsung unlocked with the maximum advertised trade-in
At the listed $1,099.99 256GB price, subtracting the advertised maximum $600 trade-in gives an illustrative $499.99 device balance before taxes. This is not a guaranteed quote: eligibility, model, condition, promotion, configuration, and availability affect the result. Samsung says eligible models and credit amounts can change. What “free” usually means on a carrier offer
When a carrier advertises a phone as free, the price may be offset by monthly bill credits rather than removed from the bill on day one. You may finance the device and receive credits over a set period. If you leave, upgrade early, return the phone, or otherwise stop meeting the terms, future credits may end. The exact effect depends on the offer; read its terms rather than assuming all carrier promotions work alike.
- Free after bill credits: The device payments and monthly promotional credits may offset each other over time. Check the number of months and when credits start.
- Free with trade-in: The trade-in must meet the offer’s model, condition, account, and timing rules. “Any phone, any condition” should not be assumed unless the current terms say so.
- Free with a new line: A new line, plan change, or qualifying service tier may be required. Include that service cost in your comparison.
- Free device, paid service: Taxes, activation, upgrade fees, insurance, and wireless service may still cost money even if device credits cover the financed amount.
Before agreeing, confirm the credit duration, first-bill timing, inspection requirements, return treatment, early-upgrade rules, and whether the device is locked while credits are being paid. Taxes may also be calculated on the full retail price even when credits reduce later bills.
How Samsung’s direct offer compares with a carrier deal
Samsung.com: best for an unlocked phone
The direct route is easier to evaluate if you want to keep your current carrier, use a lower-cost MVNO plan, travel, or change networks later. The unlocked 256GB listing gives a clear starting price and trade-in flow; the trade-in maximum is not guaranteed for every device. Samsung’s purchase page has shown Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss at $15 per month or $279 for two years. Treat those as page-specific price signals and confirm current coverage, deductibles, limits, and pricing before purchase. Optional protection raises your total cost.

Carriers: potentially better only if the terms fit your service
A carrier promotion can beat Samsung’s direct discount if you already have the required plan, the offer applies to your line, and you can stay through the credit period. No current carrier-specific credit amounts or terms are established here, so there is no responsible basis to name a best live carrier deal. Check the carrier’s own offer at checkout and compare the total service and device cost with buying unlocked.
Older 2025 launch coverage described AT&T and T-Mobile promotions that could make the Flip7 free under particular conditions. Those are historical examples, not verified August 2026 offers: Tom’s Guide’s 2025 deal coverage and Android Central’s Flip7 coverage.
Best Buy: check the exact SKU and checkout requirements
Best Buy search results can mix unlocked and carrier-specific models. Verify whether activation is required, whether a retailer trade-in is separate from carrier credits, and when any gift card is issued. Do not count the $200 preorder gift card shown with an August 6, 2026 end date as a current benefit unless a replacement offer appears on the listing. Previous-generation stock may be limited, and open-box or refurbished inventory is not equivalent to a new retail phone.

Should you buy the Flip7 now that the Flip8 is out?
The Flip7 is a previous-generation phone, not Samsung’s newest foldable. Samsung’s U.S. offer pages reference the Flip8 preorder window of July 22 through August 7, 2026. That establishes the newer generation’s arrival, but the available pricing evidence here does not establish the Flip8’s current price or a like-for-like price gap. Compare current checkout prices rather than assuming the older phone is automatically the better value.
The Flip7 makes more sense when its net price is meaningfully lower, its hardware meets your needs, and you are comfortable with less remaining support time than a newer model is likely to have. Favor the Flip8 if longer remaining software support, newer hardware, or the latest cameras matter more than savings. Check Samsung’s current U.S. offers and product pages for available models: Samsung U.S. offers and Samsung phone offers.
Which option fits your situation?
- Existing Samsung owner: Compare Samsung’s instant trade-in quote with carrier credit and the value of selling your phone privately. A carrier’s larger headline credit is not necessarily worth a plan change.
- Customer already on a qualifying premium plan: A carrier offer may be attractive if it applies to your existing line and you expect to keep the account for the full term.
- Switcher: Compare service costs over the complete credit period, not just the phone payment. Include any new-line requirements and fees.
- Unlocked-phone buyer: Start with Samsung’s unlocked listing and compare the actual trade-in quote against buying the phone outright and keeping your existing plan.
- No-trade-in buyer: Look for verified new-device clearance or compare the Flip7 FE, listed by Samsung from $899.99. The FE is a separate model, so compare its specifications and support rather than treating it as an identical Flip7.
- Buyer who wants the newest model: Price the Flip8 alongside the Flip7 before choosing. The Flip7’s previous-generation status matters most if the savings are small.
Protect yourself during a trade-in
Trade-in terms differ by seller. Follow the instructions for the specific program and keep evidence until the old device is accepted.
Quick Recap
- Read the current eligibility and condition definitions, including exclusions for damaged screens, water damage, missing components, or blocked devices.
- Back up the old phone, factory-reset it, remove Google and Samsung accounts, and disable activation locks as directed.
- Photograph its condition and record its IMEI before shipping or handing it over.
- Keep shipment tracking and the trade-in confirmation; retain the old phone until acceptance if the seller’s timing allows.
- Check how a revised appraisal can be challenged and whether returning the new phone reverses trade-in value or promotional credits.
Check these terms before accepting a “free” offer
- Is the Flip7 model and storage you want in stock, and is the listing unlocked or carrier-specific?
- What is the exact trade-in credit for your device and condition—not the maximum advertised amount?
- Does the offer apply to your existing line, or require a new line or plan change?
- How many months do credits last, when do they begin, and what happens if you cancel or upgrade?
- What are the taxes, activation or upgrade fees, device payoff, and any plan-cost increase?
- Can retailer incentives be combined with carrier credits, and when can gift cards be used?
