There is no verified, like-for-like lowest retailer offer established for October 8, 2026. Microsoft’s listed prices are useful reference points, not proof of a discount: check the exact model, seller, stock, shipping, bundle, condition, and checkout total before buying. The right deal depends on whether you need a disc drive, want native 4K capability, and how much storage your games require.
Xbox Series X|S prices to use as reference points
Microsoft’s US product pages showed the following prices in the October 8, 2026 snapshot. Microsoft cautions that estimated prices and availability may vary by retailer, so verify each listing before purchase.
| Configuration | Microsoft listed price in the October 8, 2026 snapshot | What it offers |
|---|---|---|
| Xbox Series X, 1TB Carbon Black | $799.99 | Disc drive; native 4K positioning. |
| Xbox Series X, 1TB Robot White Digital Edition | $749.99 | Digital-only; native 4K positioning. |
| Xbox Series X, 2TB Galaxy Black | $799.99 | Disc drive; 2TB storage. |
These are Microsoft-listed reference prices, not confirmed sale prices or a retailer price comparison. Microsoft announced worldwide console price changes effective August 1, 2026, citing rising costs that included storage and memory; that announcement does not establish what a retailer charges today. Xbox Wire’s price update explains the change.
Which Xbox Series X|S configuration is the best fit?
Choose a disc-drive Series X if you use physical games or UHD Blu-rays
Series X disc-drive configurations can play physical games and UHD Blu-ray discs. Microsoft describes Series X as capable of native 4K. If you already own disc games or movies, include the value of being able to use them when comparing a disc model with a digital-only console. Microsoft’s Series X page lists configurations and features.

Choose the Series X Digital Edition only if digital-only works for you
The 1TB Robot White Series X is digital-only. It retains Series X’s native 4K positioning, but cannot play physical discs. Compare its current price with the disc-drive model rather than assuming the lower listed reference price makes it the better value.
Choose Series S if digital-only play and a lower entry price matter most
Series S has no disc drive, so games must be accessed digitally. Microsoft describes it as designed for 1440p gaming, with the ability to upscale to 4K. It comes in 512GB and 1TB configurations. Check the live price and available storage rather than relying on historical launch pricing; Microsoft’s August 2026 price update changed console pricing worldwide. Microsoft’s Series S page describes its configurations and included items.

How to tell whether an Xbox offer is actually a deal
- Compare the same configuration. Match console family, storage capacity, color, and disc-drive status. A lower price for a digital model or smaller storage tier is not a like-for-like discount on a disc-drive model.
- Check the checkout total. Add shipping and applicable taxes, and compare the final amount with current listings from Microsoft and other retailers. A sale label alone does not establish savings.
- Confirm who sells the console. Check whether the seller is the retailer or a marketplace seller, and verify stock, delivery timing, and the return policy.
- Compare condition and coverage. Distinguish new, open-box, and certified refurbished listings. Review warranty and return terms before treating a lower price as worthwhile.
- Value bundles by what you will use. Check exactly which controller, game, or subscription is included, how long a subscription lasts, and whether the bundle costs less than buying the items you actually want separately.
Best Buy provides package-deal and sale filters and describes bundles that can combine a console, controller, and Game Pass, but its retrieved page did not establish a current exact winning console price. Best Buy’s Xbox Series X|S results are a place to compare listings, not evidence of a particular deal. GameStop has an Xbox Series X|S category, but its retrieved listing likewise did not establish an exact best offer. GameStop’s category can be checked for current stock and terms.
Is certified refurbished worth considering?
Microsoft’s US console catalog showed certified refurbished listings in the October 8, 2026 snapshot: a 2TB Galaxy Black Series X at $679.99 and a 1TB Series X Digital Edition at $599.99. These snapshot prices and inventory can change; they are not guaranteed current offers. Check that the listing is still available, confirm its condition and seller, and read the warranty and return terms before comparing it with a new console. Microsoft’s console catalog includes new and refurbished listings.

Account for storage and performance
Microsoft describes Series X as native 4K-capable and Series S as designed for 1440p with 4K upscaling. Both support frame rates up to 120 FPS where the game and display support them. Your experience depends on compatible games and hardware, so treat those figures as capability descriptions rather than a promise that every game runs at those settings. Microsoft’s Series X and Series S comparison covers the platform differences.
Match the console’s built-in storage to the games you plan to keep installed: the relevant configurations in Microsoft’s pages include Series S at 512GB or 1TB, and Series X at 1TB or 2TB. Both families support optional Storage Expansion Cards through a dedicated port. Microsoft says the cards add game storage while replicating the console’s custom SSD experience; they are sold separately, not included by default. Microsoft’s expansion-card information explains the accessory.

Compare Xbox All Access by total cost
Xbox All Access is described by Microsoft as a console plus 24 months of Game Pass Ultimate through an offer involving Lift Forward and Citizens Pay. Compare the total of all payments with buying the console outright, and decide whether the subscription is worth its cost to you. Check current eligibility, offer availability, and terms before signing up; a monthly payment by itself does not show whether the offer is cheaper. Microsoft’s Xbox All Access page provides offer details.
