For a 2022-era beginner, Cudo Miner or Kryptex was the simpler route to managed desktop mining; NiceHash suited people who wanted an automated, BTC-oriented marketplace; and CGMiner or BFGMiner offered more control to experienced operators. Those are different kinds of tools, not interchangeable products. ECOS and SHAMINING sold cloud-mining contracts rather than downloadable mining software, while MultiMiner and Awesome Miner focused on managing mining operations.

Historical note: This is a 2022-focused comparison, not a claim that the listed products, fees, or supported hardware remain unchanged. Ethereum’s September 2022 move from proof-of-work to proof-of-stake ended ordinary ETH GPU mining. Current CudoMiner fee and payout details below are identified separately from unverified historical terms.

Quick comparison

Product Category and best fit Hardware and operating system Fee or payout information Main trade-off
Cudo Miner Automated mining application and management platform; suited to people who want managed CPU/GPU mining and remote monitoring. Its current documentation lists Windows, Linux, CudoOS, and ASIC-related deployments; see setup requirements and supported hardware. This is not proof of 2022 compatibility. Current pricing page describes a commission model and no withdrawal fee; historical 2022 schedule not established. Current payout options and minimums are listed in CudoMiner’s payout documentation. Automation is convenient, but commissions and third-party miner risks matter.
Kryptex Miner Managed desktop mining application, historically presented as a simple option for Windows users. Exact 2022 and current hardware and OS matrices: not stated in the cited historical article. The original TechTimes article reported a 0.0002 BTC fee and 0.00025 BTC minimum payout; it does not establish universal applicability or independently confirm those as 2022 terms. Verify current payout methods, fees, and supported hardware before installing.
NiceHash Miner Mining application connected to a hash-power marketplace; a fit for users seeking automated algorithm selection and BTC-oriented payouts. Exact 2022 hardware and OS support matrix: not stated in the cited sources. Marketplace pricing varies with supply and demand; there is no single universal fee established here. The marketplace guide describes buying and selling hash power and BTC payouts: NiceHash buying guide. Selling hash power is not the same as selecting a coin and receiving its block rewards.
CGMiner Low-level open-source miner, particularly for advanced ASIC/FPGA operators. The BitmainTech repository describes it as a C miner for ASIC, FPGA, and GPU hardware; confirm the specific fork and device before use. No subscription price is established by the cited repository. Pool and other costs depend on configuration. Command-line configuration is not the easiest entry point; repository availability alone does not establish active maintenance.
BFGMiner Modular command-line miner for experienced operators. Exact current and 2022 compatibility details: not stated in the cited sources. Not stated in the cited sources. Confirm the release, device support, and pool configuration before deployment.
MultiMiner Graphical mining-management interface intended to make underlying mining tools easier to operate. Exact 2022 and current OS and hardware matrix: not stated in the cited sources. Not stated in the cited sources. Compatibility and maintenance status need checking; a manager still depends on its underlying miners.
Awesome Miner Mining management and monitoring software for operators managing multiple rigs. Exact 2022 and current OS and hardware matrix: not stated in the cited sources. Current licensing terms are not established in the cited sources. It manages miners rather than making electricity or hardware costs disappear.
ECOS and SHAMINING Cloud-mining contract providers; only relevant to readers considering rented hash rate. Provider-operated hardware; customers do not install a local miner to control the physical machines. The original TechTimes article reported ECOS contracts starting at $100 and SHAMINING contract/deposit claims, but these are not verified current prices or definitive 2022 terms. Contract, counterparty, custody, and withdrawal risks; not equivalent to owning hardware or downloading free software.

The historical product and price descriptions for Kryptex, ECOS, SHAMINING, and Cudo Miner come from the TechTimes article published November 29, 2021. Its publication date means it is not evidence of a review updated during 2022 or of year-end 2022 terms.

  • Standalone miner: Runs the hashing work on your hardware and connects to a pool or network. CGMiner is a low-level example.
  • Mining manager: Helps install, launch, monitor, or switch among mining programs. Cudo Miner, MultiMiner, and Awesome Miner fit this broad role, though their specific features differ.
  • Mining operating system: A specialized system installed on a rig, often with remote management. CudoOS is one option described by CudoMiner’s platform information.
  • Mining pool: A service that coordinates miners’ work and distributes rewards under its payout rules. Pool fees and payout thresholds are separate from the miner’s software fee.
  • Hash-rate marketplace: Lets users sell or buy mining capacity. NiceHash’s guide describes this marketplace model.
  • Cloud mining: A customer buys a contract for rented hash rate. The customer does not own or directly manage the physical machines.

This distinction matters financially: a cloud contract price is not a software license, a mining commission is not a pool fee, and a payout minimum is not a withdrawal charge.

Best local and automated mining options

Cudo Miner: convenient automation, with commissions to account for

Cudo Miner is an automated CPU/GPU mining application and management platform. Its setup documentation describes creating or signing into an account, verifying it, connecting a device, and selecting a device configuration. Its platform page describes web-console monitoring and remote management. Those features make it a plausible fit for a beginner or small operator who values a managed interface over tuning every miner by hand.

Current documentation is not a historical fee record. The pricing page, as presented on August 16, 2026, says the download is free and lists commission tiers tied to cryptocurrency mined in the previous 30 days: 6.5% below 0.005 BTC, 5% at 0.005–0.02 BTC, 4% at 0.02–0.1 BTC, 3% at 0.1–0.5 BTC, 2.5% at 0.5–1 BTC, 2% at 1–10 BTC, and 1.5% at 10 BTC or more. It also states there is no withdrawal fee. Check the live Cudo Miner pricing page before relying on a policy that can change; these figures should not be read as its 2022 schedule.

CudoMiner distinguishes supported mining coins from payout coins: the coin mined and the asset received need not be the same. Its documentation lists Bitcoin Gold, Ethereum, Ethereum Classic, Monero, and Ravencoin among mining support, and BTC, ALGO, ETH, and XMR as payout options. That support page is a current product reference, not evidence that ordinary ETH mining remains possible after the Merge. Consult the supported-coin documentation and payout thresholds for current details. The payout page lists minimums of 0.000767 BTC, 0.0115 ETH, 0.088 XMR, and 20 ALGO; these are volatile policy figures shown in current documentation, not verified 2022 terms.

Its setup guide says users can enable third-party miners, but warns that those miners add risk and are not fully covered by Cudo’s responsibility. Download only through the vendor’s official site, and understand what additional components the application installs.

Kryptex Miner: a simple historical Windows-oriented choice

Kryptex was presented in the original 2021 article as a free download with automatic mining and Bitcoin payouts, making it a candidate for Windows users who preferred a managed experience. That article reported a 0.0002 BTC fee and a 0.00025 BTC minimum payout, but does not establish whether those figures applied to every payout route, when they applied, or that they were the exact terms throughout 2022. Treat them as attributed historical claims, not current pricing. Check the vendor’s current information at Kryptex before installation. The cited material does not establish a complete current hardware or OS support matrix.

NiceHash Miner: BTC-oriented marketplace rather than direct coin selection

NiceHash is best understood as a hash-power marketplace. In the model described by its buying guide, miners sell hash power to buyers and receive BTC through the NiceHash wallet. That differs from pointing a miner at a pool for a chosen coin and receiving that coin’s rewards. Automated algorithm selection can simplify operation, but marketplace pricing is demand-driven; NiceHash’s 2024 mining review describes that pricing model. Do not apply one fee figure to every NiceHash transaction or product without checking the relevant current schedule.

Advanced miners and multi-rig managers

CGMiner: control for operators comfortable with configuration

The BitmainTech CGMiner repository describes a C miner for ASIC, FPGA, and GPU devices, associated with Bitcoin and Litecoin. It is a low-level tool, not the natural choice for someone who wants an installer to make automatic profitability decisions. The project API documents status and device information, including version, configuration, pool, and device data; see the API documentation. Confirm that the specific fork supports your hardware and is maintained before connecting it to a rig; a public repository by itself does not establish current security or active development.

BFGMiner: modular command-line operation

BFGMiner is commonly considered by experienced operators who want a modular command-line workflow, device monitoring, and pool failover. The cited material does not establish a current supported-device list, operating-system matrix, fee schedule, or maintenance status, so verify those particulars against the project’s current official release and your hardware before choosing it. It is not a turnkey beginner recommendation.

MultiMiner and Awesome Miner: management rather than magic earnings

MultiMiner offers a graphical management layer around mining software, which can make device discovery and routine operation more approachable than a bare command line. It remains dependent on compatible underlying miners, and the available evidence does not establish a current compatibility matrix or maintenance schedule.

Awesome Miner is aimed at monitoring and managing multiple miners or rigs. That can be useful at a larger scale, but management does not guarantee higher net profit. Confirm current licensing, OS support, and the supported miner list before deploying it; those details are not established by the sources cited here.

Cloud mining is a separate buying decision

ECOS and SHAMINING should not be ranked alongside downloadable miners as if a user were choosing an application. A cloud-mining customer pays for contract terms and rented hash rate; the provider controls the hardware and operating conditions.

  • Competitive Advantages: Goldshell MINI DOGEⅢ offers high hashrate, low power consumption, and quiet operation, making it the best choice for home mining

The TechTimes article reported ECOS Bitcoin cloud-mining contracts beginning at $100. It also reported SHAMINING minimum-deposit and contract-pricing claims. These are claims in an article published on November 29, 2021, not verified current prices or definitive terms applicable throughout 2022. Current provider terms should be checked directly at ECOS and SHAMINING. Do not treat advertised return estimates as guaranteed income.

  • Read the contract duration, hash-rate delivery terms, maintenance deductions, and conditions under which payouts or withdrawals can be restricted.
  • Check the provider’s jurisdiction, dispute process, custody arrangements, uptime commitments, and disclosures about facilities.
  • Consider whether you can independently verify delivered hash rate and operating costs; a contract provides less physical control than owned equipment.
  • Model the possibility of losing money even if Bitcoin’s price rises. Contract costs and deductions can outweigh mining proceeds.

Estimate net profitability before installing anything

A free download can still result in a loss. Mining revenue changes with the hardware’s output, coin price, and network difficulty; costs include power, commissions, pool charges, cooling, maintenance, and the value lost as equipment depreciates.

Net profit = mining revenue − electricity cost − software fee − pool fee − withdrawal/conversion costs − maintenance and cooling − hardware depreciation.

For a rough electricity estimate:

Daily electricity cost = (power draw in watts ÷ 1,000) × 24 × electricity price per kWh.

If you are not 100% satistifed with this Miner, please feel free to contact us, we will offer you a satisfactory soluiton within 24 hours.

For illustration only, a rig drawing 1,000 W continuously at $0.15 per kWh costs 1 × 24 × $0.15 = $3.60 per day in electricity. This is not a mining earnings estimate. Use your own measured wall power and electricity rate.

  • Use the actual hardware model, algorithm, and power limit rather than a generic hashrate claim.
  • Separate software commission, pool fee, marketplace charges, conversion costs, and withdrawal costs; check whether a displayed earnings figure is gross or net.
  • Account for stale or rejected shares, downtime, cooling, repairs, and the cost of replacing or reselling hardware.
  • Do not assume an automatic profit switcher optimizes net profit. It may use delayed prices, overlook pool differences, switch too often, or show gross proceeds before commissions and conversion costs.
  • Consider tax treatment and local rules for mining and crypto receipts. Obligations vary by jurisdiction, so use qualified local guidance rather than assuming a universal tax result.

Without a controlled, reproducible test naming hardware, drivers, power limits, electricity cost, algorithm, and observation period, a “highest earnings” ranking would be misleading. Choose on compatibility, transparency, and fit for your setup instead.

Ethereum mining changed during 2022

Before the September 2022 Merge, Ethereum used proof-of-work, and GPUs could mine ETH. The transition to proof-of-stake ended ordinary Ethereum GPU mining. A mining program’s older claim of “Ethereum support” therefore needs a date: after the Merge, support for Ethereum Classic or another proof-of-work network is not the same as mining ETH. The change and GPU-mining context are summarized in G2’s GPU mining overview.

Protect your computer, wallet, and account

  • Get installers from the official project or vendor domain, not search ads, file mirrors, or cracked-software pages. Verify release signatures or hashes where the project provides them.
  • Scan installers before running them. Antivirus may flag legitimate miner binaries because malware also abuses mining tools; investigate the detection rather than blindly disabling protection.
  • Use a separate mining wallet instead of exposing the seed phrase for a primary wallet. A hosted platform wallet is not the same as self-custody: check who controls keys, withdrawal controls, and account protections such as two-factor authentication.
  • Review what a manager downloads or runs, especially if enabling third-party miners. Keep operating systems and drivers updated and limit account permissions.
  • Avoid casual laptop mining. Sustained load can cause heat, fan wear, throttling, noise, battery-life reduction, and higher power use; inadequate cooling can damage equipment.
  • For cloud contracts, treat withdrawal restrictions, opaque maintenance deductions, and unclear hash-rate delivery as material risks, not fine print.

Which option fits which reader?

  • Beginner with a compatible Windows PC: Compare Cudo Miner and Kryptex’s current support and fee terms; favor a managed interface only if its costs and account model make sense.
  • Wants automatic BTC-oriented payouts: Consider NiceHash if selling hash power through a marketplace fits your goal; do not mistake that for direct mining of a selected coin.
  • Experienced ASIC/FPGA operator seeking control: Evaluate CGMiner or BFGMiner only after confirming the specific release, hardware support, pool setup, and maintenance status.
  • Runs several rigs: Compare management platforms such as Awesome Miner or a dedicated mining OS based on the specific devices and remote controls required.
  • Considering rented hash rate: Evaluate ECOS or SHAMINING as contract counterparties, not as free software; scrutinize costs, custody, and withdrawal terms before committing funds.

There is no universal winner. The practical choice is the one compatible with the hardware and network you intend to use, with fees and risks clear enough to calculate a plausible net result. For many small miners, that calculation may show that mining is not economically worthwhile.
