Best Buy Canada’s December 2023 Boxing Day preview named eight products expected to receive discounts, from the Google Pixel 8 Pro and Xbox Series X to a Dyson Airwrap. The retailer had not announced sale prices when the list was reported. The offers were scheduled to go live online on December 24, 2023, at 6 p.m. ET (3 p.m. PT)—a past promotion, not a forecast for 2026.
What Best Buy announced
Best Buy shared an early product preview, not a complete flyer or a priced list of Boxing Day offers. MobileSyrup reported the announcement on December 12, 2023. The named products were expected to be discounted, but the preview did not establish final prices, discount amounts, stock levels, or whether every item would be available at every store. Best Buy said more products and pricing details would be revealed before the sale began. MobileSyrup’s report

Which shoppers the list was aimed at
Phones
The S23 FE and Pixel 8 Pro gave Android-phone shoppers two different options to compare. The listed Pixel was the unlocked 128GB model; unlocked status can offer carrier flexibility, but buyers still need to check Canadian network compatibility and warranty terms. The S23 FE should not be treated as equivalent to Samsung’s top flagship. A useful comparison would consider camera performance, software preference, processor, display, storage, and update support—not just the discount.

Gaming and VR
The Xbox Series X was listed as a 1TB console, while the Meta Quest 2 preview specified the 128GB headset with Touch Controllers. The announcement did not say whether the Xbox offer would be a bundle or whether either item would have new, open-box, or refurbished stock. For a VR headset, confirm condition, included accessories, and storage; for a console, compare the exact package with the alternatives you are considering.
PC gaming
The Alienware listing highlighted a curved 34-inch QD-OLED display with WQHD resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and 0.1ms GTG response time, plus G-Sync and FreeSync compatibility. Those specifications do not identify every model-specific feature or warranty term. OLED buyers should check burn-in coverage and consider text clarity as well as contrast and response speed. The exact model number matters.

- DURABLE ENAMEL CONSTRUCTION: Made from quality enamel material with vibrant yellow and black coloring that resists fading and maintains its sharp appearance over time

- SECURE ATTACHMENT: Free sturdy metal butterfly clutch pin back included.
- VERSATILE NOVELTY ACCESSORY: Great conversation starter for adults who lived through the Y2K era, suitable for casual wear on backpacks, denim jackets, or tote bags as a nostalgic throwback piece
Beauty tech, wearables, and home audio
The Dyson listing was specifically a Complete Long Hair Styler gift set, so its attachments and suitability may differ from other Airwrap versions. The Oura Ring was a size 6 Heritage model in Gold; ring size is essential, and buyers should check subscription terms, phone compatibility, and battery condition if considering old stock. The JBL Bar 700 listing specified a wireless subwoofer and Dolby Atmos, but wattage alone cannot determine sound quality or room suitability. Check television HDMI/eARC compatibility, room layout, and what speakers are included.
When the 2023 sale was scheduled to start
The preview said the offers would go live online on December 24, 2023, at 6 p.m. Eastern Time, or 3 p.m. Pacific Time. Best Buy’s own retrospective coverage said its broader Boxing Day promotion began online on Christmas Eve and continued through January 4; that does not independently confirm the final price of every item in the preview. - Final price or savings: The December 12 announcement did not say how much any product would cost during the promotion. It also did not establish whether an offer would be a percentage reduction, fixed-dollar discount, bundle, or limited-quantity promotion.
- Value against other offers: No price-history comparison or evidence that any item would be the lowest price was provided. A product’s inclusion in a preview does not make it a best deal.
- Availability and condition: The report did not establish stock by province, store, or online warehouse, or whether an item would be new, open-box, refurbished, or marketplace-sold.
- Exact model details: Some product names and configurations leave questions that matter for compatibility, warranty, or value. Verify model numbers and the specific listing before buying.

How to assess a similar deal without overspending
- Identify the exact item. Match model number, storage, size, included accessories, and product generation to the item you intend to buy.
- Check condition and seller. Distinguish new from open-box, refurbished, or marketplace stock; do not compare them as if they were identical.
- Compare the actual price. Check the manufacturer and other Canadian retailers, and compare like-for-like configurations rather than relying only on a displayed regular price.
- Check ownership costs and fit. Review return and warranty terms, plus requirements such as phone-network compatibility, ring sizing, monitor connections, or soundbar HDMI/eARC support.
- Confirm current seasonal dates independently. A 2023 launch time cannot be carried forward to a later Boxing Day. Best Buy’s current seasonal page says 2026 deals will return later in the year, but it does not confirm these 2023 products or their prices. Best Buy Canada Boxing Day collection
