The best Boost Mobile phone to get in 2024 depended on more than the advertised handset price. The iPhone 15 was the strongest all-around iPhone choice, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra was the best premium Android, and the Motorola moto g stylus 5G (2024) offered the best balance of features and value. But a discounted phone tied to an expensive plan was not automatically a good deal.
This is a historical 2024 buying guide. Boost’s catalog and promotions have since changed, so the prices below are historical offers—not current prices. Before buying, compare the phone’s upfront cost, required service, eligibility rules, taxes, fees, and unlocking terms.

Quick picks
| Phone | Best for | 2024 verdict | Main drawback |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 15 | Best iPhone and overall choice for many users | Excellent camera and video, performance, resale value, and Apple ecosystem | Deal eligibility and plan requirements could reduce its value |
| Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra | Best premium Android | Best combination of display, cameras, performance, multitasking, and S Pen features | Large, heavy, and expensive |
| Samsung Galaxy S24 | Compact flagship Android | Most sensible premium Samsung for buyers who do not need the Ultra’s size and S Pen | Less camera versatility and battery capacity than the Ultra |
| Motorola moto g stylus 5G (2024) | Best value | Large OLED display, stylus, big battery, and wireless charging at a lower price | Weaker cameras, performance, and software-support outlook than flagships |
| Motorola razr (2024) | Best foldable deal | Attractive only when the subsidy is substantial and you genuinely want a flip phone | Foldable-screen durability and repair risks |
| Samsung Galaxy A15 5G | Best inexpensive Samsung | Good for calls, messaging, streaming, and light browsing | Not suitable for demanding games or heavy multitasking |
| Unlocked phone through BYOD | Existing Boost customers and flexibility seekers | Often the better financial choice if you already own—or can cheaply buy—a compatible unlocked phone | No Boost handset subsidy |
Boost’s 2024 compatibility documentation listed the Galaxy A15 5G, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Motorola razr (2024), and moto g stylus 5G (2024). That confirms relevance to Boost’s device ecosystem, but a compatibility listing should not automatically be treated as proof that every storage tier or carrier variant was sold directly by Boost. See the 2024 Boost hearing-aid-compatible phone list.

The iPhone 15 was the safest recommendation for buyers who wanted iOS, dependable photo and video quality, long-term usability, strong resale value, and easy integration with Apple services and accessories. It also moved the standard iPhone to USB-C, although owners of older Lightning accessories might need new cables or adapters.

It was not the best choice for everyone. The standard iPhone 15 lacks a dedicated telephoto camera, and a Boost promotion could require a higher-priced plan or a new line. In September 2024, Boost announced a free-year-of-service promotion for customers purchasing an eligible Boost-compatible 5G phone; the exact qualifying phone, plan, and customer conditions applied to the offer. Read the September 2024 Boost announcement rather than assuming any iPhone was free.
Buy it if: you already use Apple devices, care about video and resale, or expect to keep the phone for several years. Buy unlocked instead if: the Boost plan costs more than the service you actually need.
Best premium Android: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
The Galaxy S24 Ultra was the premium Android choice for buyers who wanted an excellent display, high-end performance, versatile cameras, zoom capability, multitasking, and an integrated S Pen for notes and productivity. It was the better pick than the regular S24 for photography, large-screen work, and stylus use.
The regular Galaxy S24 was the more practical flagship for many people. It was easier to hold and carry, while still providing a premium Android experience. Choose the Ultra only if its larger screen, camera system, battery capacity, and S Pen justify the added cost. A flagship phone is poor value if you mainly make calls, send messages, and stream video on a budget line.
Boost’s 2024 documentation listed both the Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra. That supports compatibility, but the exact Boost model, storage tier, promotion, and customer eligibility still mattered.
Best for: Android power users, photographers who want zoom, multitaskers, and people who will use the S Pen. Buy unlocked instead if: you want a particular storage version or may switch carriers before the promotion’s conditions are satisfied.

Best value Android: Motorola moto g stylus 5G (2024)
The moto g stylus 5G (2024) was the strongest value candidate when Boost’s subsidized price was materially below the unlocked price. It combined a large OLED display, integrated stylus, generous storage, and a 5,000-mAh battery. Motorola listed 30W wired charging and 15W wireless charging in its specifications.

The stylus was useful for quick notes, marking up documents, and occasional precision input—not a substitute for the S Pen experience on Samsung’s Ultra models. Performance and camera processing were also below flagship level, and Motorola’s software-support record was weaker than Apple’s and Samsung’s. Check the exact model number and storage configuration: similarly named Moto G phones are not interchangeable.
Best for: budget buyers, note-takers, large-screen media users, and anyone who values battery life and wireless charging. Buy unlocked instead if: the Boost discount is small or long software support matters more than the hardware-per-dollar ratio.
Best foldable deal: Motorola razr (2024)
The Motorola razr (2024) made sense for buyers who specifically wanted a compact flip phone. It had a 3.6-inch external display and a 6.9-inch internal pOLED display, and used the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor.
Boost announced the phone on September 10, 2024, at $199.99 with the $60-per-month Unlimited Premium plan. New customers porting in could receive it for $99.99 with that plan. These were historical launch-promotion prices, not permanent prices. The phone price alone therefore understated the commitment: twelve months of the required $60 service would total $720 before taxes and fees, even if that plan was already the service you wanted.
Foldables also carry more durability and repair risk than conventional phones. The hinge and flexible display require more care, and a repair can be expensive. Choose the razr because you want the form factor—not merely because its advertised phone price is low. See the Boost launch announcement for the historical offer and specifications.

Best inexpensive Samsung: Galaxy A15 5G
The Galaxy A15 5G was appropriate for basic communication, social media, streaming, web browsing, children’s lines, and secondary phones. It offered Samsung’s familiar software experience at a lower price and appeared in Boost’s 2024 compatibility documentation.
It was not a good choice for demanding games, intensive multitasking, advanced photography, or buyers expecting flagship-like speed. If the phone will be used heavily every day, paying more for the moto g stylus 5G, Galaxy S24, or iPhone 15 may produce a better ownership experience.
Best for: light-to-moderate users who prioritize a low upfront cost. Buy unlocked instead if: another retailer offers the same model substantially cheaper without a service commitment.
Best option for existing Boost customers: keep or bring an unlocked phone
Existing Boost customers should not assume that a new-customer phone promotion is available to them. Many offers targeted new lines or customers porting in from another carrier. Changing to a more expensive plan solely to obtain a discounted phone can cost more than buying an unlocked handset.
Boost supports bringing an unlocked phone subject to compatibility verification. Use Boost’s BYOD page and check the phone’s IMEI before buying. An unlocked iPhone, Galaxy, or Motorola device can be the better choice when you want to preserve your current plan, change carriers later, or choose a specific storage tier.

Use this formula:
Total first-year cost = phone price + required service payments + taxes, activation fees, and add-ons − the value of service you would have bought anyway.

- MODERN DESIGN IN BLUE BLACK: Sleek and stylish, the Galaxy A15 5G comes in a unique Blue Black finish, offering a modern look with all the features you need in a 2024 smartphone.
- BRILLIANT AMOLED DISPLAY: Enjoy immersive viewing on the vibrant AMOLED display of the Galaxy A15 5G. With rich colors and sharp details, every video, game, and app looks stunningly clear.
- Equipped with 64GB of internal storage and support for up to 1TB of expandable storage, the Galaxy A15 5G ensures you have space for all your photos, videos, and important files.
- SECURE WITH KNOX SECURITY: Built with Samsung’s Knox Security, the Galaxy A15 5G provides multiple layers of protection to safeguard your personal data and sensitive information.
For example, the razr’s $99.99 port-in price sounded inexpensive, but it was tied to the $60-per-month Unlimited Premium plan. If you would otherwise have paid $25 per month for service, the extra service cost over twelve months would be $420 before taxes and fees. In that scenario, the discounted phone was not really a $99.99 decision.

Before ordering, verify:
- whether you are a new customer, port-in customer, or existing-customer upgrade;
- the required monthly plan and whether AutoPay is required;
- how many months of service or installments apply;
- taxes, activation fees, and prepaid renewal terms;
- whether the phone is locked and when it can be unlocked;
- whether financing is available for that exact phone and plan;
- whether the offer can be combined with other discounts; and
- the offer’s expiration date and cancellation conditions.
Boost’s 2024 Unlimited+ terms stated that offers could be modified or terminated and that additional plan and payment conditions applied. Treat any historical promotion as conditional, not as a guaranteed permanent price.
Check network compatibility before buying
A phone can pass an IMEI check and still provide a different experience from another compatible model. Check local coverage, supported 5G bands, SIM or eSIM support, Wi-Fi calling, VoLTE, hotspot eligibility, and roaming requirements. Coverage and 5G availability vary by location; Boost also stated that 5G required a compatible device and was not available everywhere. Check Boost’s coverage and current service information for your address.
For international travel, do not assume a U.S. Boost model will work abroad. Confirm the phone’s bands, roaming options, and unlocking status. If you use hearing aids, consult Boost’s compatibility documentation and look for the relevant certification rather than relying on a general accessibility claim.
Bottom line by buyer
- Best iPhone: iPhone 15.

- Best camera-oriented choices: iPhone 15 for consistent photo and video results, or Galaxy S24 Ultra for Android flexibility and zoom.
- Best battery-oriented value: moto g stylus 5G (2024), with its 5,000-mAh battery.

- Best for leaving Boost later: an unlocked phone, after confirming compatibility and the carrier’s unlocking requirements.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Boost Mobile work with unlocked phones?
Yes. Boost supports BYOD, but the exact phone must pass its compatibility and IMEI checks. Model variant, SIM support, bands, and device status can affect activation.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
Can existing Boost customers get new-customer phone deals?
Not necessarily. Many promotions required a new line or a port-in, so existing customers should check the offer’s eligibility before changing plans.
Will a Boost phone work on another carrier?
Only after meeting the applicable unlocking requirements, and compatibility with the other carrier is still not guaranteed. Confirm the unlocking policy before buying.
What if the advertised 2024 deal is no longer available?
Do not substitute a current Boost price for the historical one. Recalculate the deal using the live offer, its plan requirement, and your customer status.
