In MobileSyrup’s November 28 roundup, Freedom Mobile stood out for data value, while offers from Public Mobile, Koodo, Chatr, Lucky Mobile, Videotron, and others provided alternatives. These figures are historical snapshots, not prices available today; carrier plans, eligibility, and inventory change. The central roundup was updated during the day as offers arrived, so its date matters when comparing advertised allowances. MobileSyrup’s November 28, 2025 roundup is the source for the plan and phone examples below.
Which wireless plans were notable in the November 2025 roundup?
MobileSyrup’s November 28, 2025 snapshot highlighted Freedom Mobile for service value and listed plans across several Canadian carriers. The amounts below are monthly prices as reported then, not current offers.
| Carrier or group | November 28, 2025 offer reported | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Freedom Mobile | $39/month for 70GB of 5G data; BYOD options at $45/month for 100GB and $55/month for 150GB | Canada, U.S., and Mexico coverage was described for these offers. The BYOD options included a $4 monthly discount on other Freedom plans. |
| Public Mobile | $40/month for 60GB or $50/month for 100GB | 5G offers described as covering Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. MobileSyrup noted Public Mobile was owned by TELUS and used its network. |
| Koodo | $40/month for 60GB; also listed at $29/month for 25GB on a prepaid plan | The $40 plan was described as 5G Canada–U.S.–Mexico service; the $29 option was a 4G prepaid offer. |
| Chatr and Lucky Mobile | $29/month for 25GB | 4G prepaid offers, as listed by MobileSyrup. |
| Videotron | $35/month for 75GB | Availability and eligibility could vary by region; confirm province-specific terms with the carrier. |
| Koodo, Fido, and Virgin Plus | $40/month for 50GB or $45/month for 70GB options | The roundup grouped these plan levels; it did not establish that every price-and-data combination was offered by each carrier in every region. |
| Rogers | $85/month for the Popular plan with 200GB | The total included a 25GB bonus reported through December 1, 2025. |
These are publisher-reported promotions, not a market-wide measure of Canadian savings. To see how quickly an allowance could change, an earlier Freedom report on November 18 listed the $39 plan with 60GB, alongside $49/month for 100GB and $59/month for 150GB. The November 28 roundup later reported 70GB at $39. The earlier Freedom offer report also described Roam Beyond data in more than 120 countries; that detail should not be assumed to apply to every listed plan.
What did the phone deals actually cost?
A $0 monthly device payment does not necessarily mean a free phone. MobileSyrup’s examples combined different devices, plans, and payment conditions. In particular, device-return offers should not be compared as if they were ordinary financing.

| Phone and carrier | Device payment reported | Required plan reported | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17, Rogers | $0/month | $115/month | Device return |
| iPhone 17, Bell | $1/month | $115/month | Device return |
| Pixel 10, Freedom Mobile | $0/month | $49/month | Device return |
| Pixel 10, Fido | $15/month | $60/month | Financing |
| Samsung Galaxy S25, Freedom Mobile | $0/month | $69/month | Device return |
| Samsung Galaxy S25, Fido | $20/month | $60/month | Financing |
These examples are not directly interchangeable: the carrier, plan, and end-of-term obligation differ. PlanHub’s November 28 comparison also included a Quebec-specific iPhone 17 listing at $50/month with 75GB and $1,134 upfront. That regional example is not evidence that the same offer was available across Canada. PlanHub’s phone comparison reported the listing and other device offers with regional conditions.
How to tell whether a carrier phone deal is actually a deal
Compare the full cost over the same period, not just the phone payment or headline monthly price. A useful baseline is the carrier offer’s required service and device costs versus buying the handset outright and using a less expensive plan.

- Add every cost over the term. Include monthly device payments, the required wireless plan, any upfront amount, taxes or fees that apply, and an end-of-term payment if you keep the phone. Compare that total with the phone’s outright price plus the cost of a suitable lower-priced plan for the same period.
- Read the return or buyout condition. For a device-return offer, establish what you must do to return the phone and what you owe if you keep it. A TELUS Exclusive Partner Program flyer says Bring-It-Back customers must return the device in good condition at the end of the two-year term or pay the disclosed program amount to keep it; it also says balances can become payable if service is cancelled before the term ends. These were partner-program terms, not a general-public offer. TELUS Exclusive Partner Program’s 2025 Black Friday flyer sets out those conditions.
- Check what the plan covers. Confirm whether data and calling apply only in Canada or also in the U.S. and Mexico, and read roaming limits. Do not infer worldwide roaming from a separate plan or add-on mention.
- Compare data and access type. Check the advertised high-speed data allowance and whether access is 4G or 5G. TELUS’s partner flyer said speeds could be reduced to a maximum of 512 Kbps after its included high-speed data bucket was used.
- Confirm eligibility and geography. Determine whether the offer requires BYOD, prepaid service, a new activation, partner-program membership, or a two-year term. Check provincial availability and whether the advertised phone price requires a particular plan.
- Check timing and updated terms. Confirm the offer’s end date and whether a later update changed the data allowance. The November Freedom example shows why a dated price snapshot is more useful than an undated headline.
When BYOD or prepaid may be the better comparison
Bring your own phone (BYOD) separates the service decision from the handset purchase. In the November 28 snapshot, Freedom’s $45/month for 100GB and $55/month for 150GB were identified as BYOD options, while Chatr, Lucky Mobile, and Koodo were listed at $29/month for 25GB on 4G prepaid plans. Those historical offers can help frame a comparison, but they do not establish which option is best for a reader’s coverage needs, current budget, or present-day availability.
For a sound comparison, match the plans on geography, data, network access, and term, then add the phone’s purchase cost separately. A lower monthly service price may be less compelling if its coverage or data allowance does not fit how you use your phone; conversely, a low device payment may be outweighed by a more expensive required plan or a return obligation.
