For a useful Australian beauty shortlist, start with what you want the product to do: Alpha-H for acid-focused skincare, Go-To for straightforward face-care essentials, Ultra Violette for sunscreen, frank body for body care, Jurlique for botanical skincare, and MCoBeauty for affordable makeup and skincare. These are editorial picks by category, not a quality ranking. Compare the formula, format, routine fit and current price—and don’t assume an Australian brand makes every product in Australia.

How to choose between Australian beauty brands

Begin with the category and task: face care, body care, sunscreen or makeup. Then compare product format and formula—such as serum, cream, oil, exfoliant, or mineral versus chemical sunscreen—and whether it fits a simple routine or a more targeted one. Skin preferences vary, so a brand’s category is a starting point, not a guarantee that a product will suit you.

Check current Australian pricing, stockists and shipping before buying; these can change, and a brand’s Australian identity does not establish where each product is manufactured. WHO Australia cautions that not all Australian skincare brands make their products locally: WHO Australia’s Australian skincare brand guide.

Australian beauty brands to know

Alpha-H: acid-focused skincare

Alpha-H is the shortlist’s clinical, exfoliating-acid option. WHO Australia highlights its use of glycolic and other exfoliating acids, including in Liquid Gold. Consider it if you are specifically exploring acid-focused skincare; the source does not establish a guaranteed result for any individual user. WHO Australia.

What Australian shoppers consider buying

YouGov BrandIndex’s 2025 report measured which personal-care brands Australian respondents would consider purchasing. Its Australian data covered December 1, 2023 to November 30, 2024, was nationally representative, and included more than 11,300 respondents. The reported consideration figures were Dove 35.6%, Nivea 33.0%, Cancer Council Sunscreen 22.4%, QV 18.3% and Sukin 14.4%.
