BermudAir ended its earlier Bermuda service from Raleigh-Durham (RDU) because of poor sales, the airline said in June 2026. It has not left RDU altogether: its winter schedule lists new Caribbean routes from the airport. Richmond’s Bermuda service is also absent from the airline’s current route map, but the available announcements do not establish when that service ended or why.
What changed on the Raleigh-Durham route
BermudAir said on June 4, 2026, that its previous Bermuda–RDU service had ended because of poor sales. The airline described its return to RDU as service to new Caribbean destinations, not a resumption of the Bermuda route “at least not right away.” RDU’s announcement and BermudAir’s route information point to a different set of destinations.
RDU’s announced winter routes
The airline’s route map, accessed October 8, 2026, lists RDU–Providenciales service beginning December 20, 2026, through May 2, 2027, on Thursdays and Sundays. Schedules can change, so check the carrier’s current booking information before making plans. BermudAir’s route map shows the listed service.
Separately, the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority announced seasonal BermudAir flights from RDU to Belize and Turks and Caicos for December 20, 2026, through May 2, 2027. The authority said the flights would operate twice weekly, on Thursdays and Sundays, on an Embraer 190. Its June 3, 2026 announcement describes those routes. These airport-announced destinations should not be confused with the airline route map’s specific RDU–Providenciales listing.

What is known about Richmond
BermudAir’s November 17, 2025 announcement named Richmond among five airports where it had introduced service during 2025. Richmond does not appear on the route map reviewed on October 8, 2026, but that absence does not establish the date the service ended. The cited announcements also do not give an official reason for Richmond’s discontinuation. The airline’s poor-sales explanation applies to its previous Bermuda–RDU service; there is no basis here to apply it to Richmond.
How the route change fits BermudAir’s network plans
In November 2025, BermudAir described its planned summer 2026 schedule as offering up to three dozen weekly flights from 11 North American gateways. The airline also reported planned capacity increases of 20% from Boston, 15% from Toronto, and 80% from the New York area. Those were projections in the carrier’s plan, not independently verified results. The airline’s announcement sets out those figures.

In June 2026, BermudAir described a broader winter strategy involving island destinations and connections among Bermuda, Turks and Caicos, and Grand Cayman. The RDU announcements are consistent with a shift toward Caribbean leisure destinations from that airport; they do not mean the airline has abandoned RDU. If your original trip was to Bermuda, a flight to Providenciales or Belize is not a substitute destination. Compare itineraries by destination first, then by departure airport and whether the flight is nonstop or connecting. Richmond and RDU are different departure points, and a route from one does not establish service from the other.
