What Berkshire’s latest filing shows
Berkshire Hathaway’s latest available Form 13F-HR was filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on August 14, 2026, and covers holdings as of June 30, 2026. The filing reports 227,917,808 Apple shares, a total obtained by adding Apple’s multiple rows in the information table. The same total appears in Berkshire’s Q1 filing, so the reported share count was unchanged between March 31 and June 30, 2026.
That means the latest filing supports two separate points: Berkshire had previously trimmed its Apple stake, but it did not report a further reduction during Q2 2026. A 13F is a periodic snapshot, not a live account of trades. The June 30 figure cannot establish what Berkshire held after that date.
Apple was still Berkshire’s largest reported equity holding
At the June 30 snapshot, Berkshire’s Apple position had a reported value of approximately $65.95 billion. American Express was the next-largest disclosed position in the comparison, at approximately $51.28 billion. These are quarter-end reported values, not current market values; the value of shares changes as market prices move.

Values and ranking are based on Berkshire’s reported portfolio snapshot, cross-checked against a portfolio aggregation. They describe the same quarter-end date and should not be read as a real-time ranking.
What the filing does—and does not—say about the trim
The Q2 filing establishes Berkshire’s reported holdings at June 30 and allows a comparison with the March 31 share count. It does not explain why Berkshire sold Apple shares in an earlier period. The filing alone is not evidence of Warren Buffett’s personal reasoning or of who made a particular investment decision. Without a separate, attributable statement, explanations for the earlier trim would be speculation.

How to interpret a Form 13F
A Form 13F is a periodic disclosure of certain investment holdings. In this case, the SEC filing page gives the filing date and reporting period, while the information table lists the reported securities and quantities. Berkshire’s filing date—August 14—should not be confused with its holdings date—June 30.
