The listed transaction prices add up to approximately $192 million, calculated from the SEC filing; the filing does not publish a single combined dollar figure. Lennar Corporation is the homebuilder identified in the report.
What Berkshire bought and when
A Form 4 filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 5, 2026, names Lennar Corporation as the issuer and reports purchases on October 1 and October 2. The transaction table records purchases in two share classes:
- Class A: 2,403,609 shares.
- Class B: 15,028 shares.
The report lists multiple weighted-average prices for the transactions. Applying those listed prices to the reported quantities gives an approximate combined value of $192 million. That is a calculation from the transaction entries, not an aggregate stated by the SEC. The filing and its filing index are available from the SEC filing index and Form 4.
Did Warren Buffett personally buy Lennar?
The Form 4 lists Berkshire Hathaway Inc. and Warren E. Buffett as reporting persons, but describes the shares as held by Berkshire subsidiaries. It says Berkshire may be deemed to beneficially own the subsidiary-held shares. Buffett may be deemed to beneficially own them only to the extent of his pecuniary interest, and he disclaims beneficial ownership beyond that extent.

That disclosure does not establish that Buffett personally selected or directed the purchases. The filing records the transactions and ownership relationships; it gives no explanation of who made the investment decision or why.
How this fits Berkshire’s other homebuilder holdings
The October purchases are separate from Berkshire’s earlier reported homebuilding activity. In August 2026, the Associated Press reported that Berkshire’s Lennar stake had risen nearly 30% in the second quarter, held a small D.R. Horton position worth $580,504 as of June 30, and completed its acquisition of Taylor Morrison in July. Those were distinct disclosures and do not explain the October trades.

The filing confirms reported Lennar purchases and the share counts. It does not establish Berkshire’s investment thesis, whether the shares are undervalued, or what Lennar stock is worth today. A large institutional purchase is information about a reported transaction, not a personal recommendation or proof that the same investment fits another investor’s goals, time horizon, or risk tolerance.
