The figure does not mean that 98 employees were all confirmed to have been dismissed: the company said most affected union-role workers were offered voluntary separation packages.
What Bell Media confirmed
MobileSyrup reported that a Bell Media spokesperson confirmed the 98-position figure and said the cuts were predominantly in service and corporate departments. The Toronto Star first reported the layoffs, and MobileSyrup said Bell provided it with the same statement. MobileSyrup’s report, published February 28, 2025, is the source for the details below.
How many positions and workers were affected?
The reported count was 98 positions affected. Bell’s wording, as reported by MobileSyrup, was that positions were “impacted”; the report does not establish that all 98 resulted in involuntary departures.
Of the affected positions, 44 were union roles. MobileSyrup reported that most workers in that group were offered voluntary separation packages, but it did not say how many accepted them. The report does not provide a complete list of affected jobs or identify specific service and corporate teams.
