Belgium’s Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA) warned consumers on December 18, 2019 about financial-services offers from Beflix and Trade Idea. The notice identified Beflix through www.beflix.net and Trade Idea through www.tradeidea.co.
The FSMA described them as part of a group of “new fraudulent online trading platforms” operating unlawfully in Belgium. It advised the public not to respond to financial-services offers made by the named platforms.
What the 2019 FSMA warning said
The warning followed what the FSMA said were many complaints from consumers about online trading platforms. Beflix and Trade Idea were listed alongside Blue Lexus, CFReserve, OmegaFX and OptionFX.
In the notice, the FSMA described a recurring pattern:

- A consumer saw an online or social-media advertisement promising unusually fast or easy wealth.
- The advertisement sometimes used a well-known person’s name or image to make the offer appear credible.
- After the consumer submitted contact details, someone contacted them quickly by telephone.
- The caller proposed investments involving shares, alternative investments or virtual currencies.
- The consumer was pressured to deposit progressively larger sums.
The authority also reported attempts to persuade victims to give the platform remote access to their computers. In some cases, the requested access was allegedly used to make money transfers. Consumers then reported being unable to recover their funds and eventually stopped receiving replies.
The FSMA characterized the cases as “most likely” investment fraud.
“Brokers” is shorthand, not the FSMA’s classification
The title of this article uses “brokers” in the informal sense of online trading services. The FSMA’s own wording was more specific: it warned against online trading platforms and did not identify Beflix or Trade Idea as licensed, conventional brokerage firms.
That distinction matters. The 2019 notice was not a statement that these businesses were authorized brokers whose services merely carried unusually high risk. It was a public warning about platforms the regulator said were operating unlawfully in Belgium and showed signs of fraud.
The notice also was not a court judgment. It did not say that a Belgian court had convicted Beflix, Trade Idea or a named operator. The supportable description is that the FSMA reported consumer complaints, made its own findings and warned that the reported conduct was consistent with investment fraud.

What the domain names establish—and what they do not
The FSMA identified the businesses using these historical domains:

Those addresses are useful identifiers when checking the 2019 notice. Their appearance in that notice does not establish that either domain is still active, still owned by the same entity or currently offering the same services. A historical warning should not be treated as proof about a domain’s present-day operation without separate, current evidence.
Why a clean FSMA search is not enough
The FSMA says its warning list is based on information available to the authority, including consumer complaints. It is not an exhaustive list of every business that may be operating unlawfully in Belgium.

The authority also warns that:
- companies may change names;
- fraudsters may use different websites or contact details; and
- the absence of a warning does not prove that a company is authorized.
This is particularly important because the FSMA warns about cloned firms. A cloned firm may copy the name, identity or contact information of a legitimate company. Searching only for a familiar brand name is therefore not sufficient.
How to check an online investment provider
The FSMA’s current consumer guidance, “Check your provider,” directs consumers to verify two separate points:

- Whether the FSMA has published a warning about that person or company.
Use the FSMA’s search function and compare the exact legal name, website, email address, telephone number and registered office—not just the trading name used in an advertisement.
If the provider cannot be found, or if the details do not match, do not treat that as a minor administrative issue. Contact the FSMA through its consumer contact form before sending money or identity documents.

The FSMA’s description offers practical red flags for anyone assessing an unsolicited trading offer:
- Guaranteed or rapid wealth claims: advertisements suggest that large returns are easy or nearly certain.
- Unsolicited telephone pressure: a caller quickly follows up after a visitor leaves contact details.
- Escalating deposit demands: the requested amount grows after the first payment.
- Remote-access requests: the caller wants control of the computer or asks the consumer to install remote-access software.
- Payment urgency: the consumer is told to act immediately or miss a supposedly limited opportunity.
- Withdrawal problems: the platform delays, rejects or conditions withdrawals on further payments.
- Silence after payment: communications stop once the consumer asks for money back.
A professional-looking website, a trading dashboard showing profits or a caller claiming to work for a known financial company does not remove these risks. Identity and authorization must be independently checked.
What to do if you have already paid
The FSMA’s 2019 warning advised consumers to stop making further payments and report suspicious contact, even if the business had not yet appeared on a warning list.

- Stop communicating about further deposits. Do not pay “taxes,” “release fees,” withdrawal charges or recovery fees demanded by the platform.
- Contact your bank or payment provider immediately. Explain that you may be the victim of investment fraud and ask what payment-reversal, account-protection or card-blocking options are available.
- Secure your accounts. Change passwords from a trusted device, especially if remote access was granted or financial logins were visible.
- Remove unauthorized remote-access tools. If the operator controlled the computer, consider professional technical assistance and check for unfamiliar software or account changes.
- Preserve evidence. Keep emails, telephone numbers, payment confirmations, wallet addresses, chat logs, website screenshots and copies of submitted identity documents.
- Contact the FSMA. Use its consumer contact form to report the provider and request a regulatory check.
If money or personal information was taken, a report to the appropriate law-enforcement authority may also be appropriate. Reporting does not guarantee recovery, but prompt action gives the bank and investigators more information to work with.
