Prosaro PRO 400 SC is a Bayer fungicide for specified cereal diseases, not a general-purpose treatment. Bayer announced it in 2021 for a 2022 launch, so “new” in the original headline is historical wording—not a 2026 product announcement. For U.S. use, the EPA-accepted label and state registration determine whether and how it may be applied.

What is Prosaro PRO 400 SC?

Prosaro PRO 400 SC is a liquid fungicide marketed by Bayer CropScience. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency label accepted August 19, 2021, lists three active ingredients and their fungicide resistance action committee (FRAC) groups:

Active ingredient Label concentration FRAC group
Prothioconazole 17.39% 3
Tebuconazole 8.70% 3
Fluopyram 8.70% 7

These percentages describe the product’s label composition; they are not measures of field performance. The EPA label identifies permitted crops, diseases, precautions, protective equipment, first aid and directions for use. Consult the current label rather than relying on a summary when deciding whether or how to apply it: EPA-accepted Prosaro PRO 400 SC label.

Which cereal crops and diseases does it cover?

Bayer’s product bulletin focuses its cereal discussion on barley and spring, winter and durum wheat. The product is labeled for control of specific diseases on listed crops; it should not be treated as a broad-spectrum cereal solution. The applicable label is the authority for the exact crop-and-disease combinations and directions.

#1 Best Overall
Quali-Pro 83013366 Propiconazole 14.4 Fungicide, 32oz, White
  • PROPICONIZOLE 14.3: provides economical, broad-spectrum disease control for cool and warm season grasses, trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • FORMULATION: Microemulsion formulation for less odor, better tank stability and excellent plant coverage.
  • MODE OF ACTION: Locally systemic mode of action for long-lasting disease control. Excellent tank mix partner with most other fungicides.
  • USE SITES: Nursery, Landscape, Turf, Trees, Golf Courses, Tree Injection
  • EFFECTIVE AGAINST: Rusts, Pink & Gray Snowmolds, Gray Leaf Spot, Zoysia Patch, Dollar Spot, Summer Patch, Anthracnose, Leaf Spot, Brown Patch, Powdery Mildew

Bayer’s November 2021 roundup described Prosaro PRO as a “New multi-MoA cereal fungicide providing excellent control of Fusarium head scab and leaf diseases.” That is the company’s launch claim, not an independent efficacy finding. Bayer’s 2025 bulletin also notes that some claims are for suppression only, including Fusarium head blight in barley. See the Bayer product bulletin for the manufacturer’s summary, and check the current label for legally permitted uses.

How does it differ from the older Prosaro fungicide?

Bayer’s January 2022 launch announcement said Prosaro PRO adds fluopyram and increases the prothioconazole rate compared with Prosaro. Bayer also claimed improved disease control and greater reduction in deoxynivalenol (DON), a toxin associated with Fusarium head blight. Those are manufacturer comparisons; the sources here do not establish an independent, complete comparative efficacy analysis.

Strobe Pro G Granular Fungicide

  • Not for Sale to: AK, CA HI, MA, MD, RI, SD
  • ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: Azoxystrobin - .31% Propiconazole - .75%
  • Target pests: Foliar, stem and root diseases such as leaf and stem blights, leaf spots, patch diseases, anthracnose, fairy rings, mildews, molds and rusts of turfgrass.
  • Apply with drop or rotary broadcast granular spreaders.

Bayer’s bulletin includes charts identified as 2020 averages: seven trials for DON in winter and spring wheat, and 13 trials each for winter- and spring-wheat yield. These are company-presented trial figures, not a promise of farm results; Bayer notes performance varies by location, year and growing conditions. The underlying protocols and data have not been independently evaluated here, so the charts should not be treated as expected outcomes.

What application timing and rate does Bayer summarize?

Bayer’s 2025 bulletin lists a rate of 10.3–13.6 fluid ounces per acre. Its preventive-timing guidance for Fusarium head blight and Ergot in wheat begins when 75% of heads on the main stem are fully emerged; for Fusarium head blight in barley, it begins when 100% are emerged. The bulletin lists preharvest intervals of up to 30 days for wheat and 32 days for barley.

These are bulletin summary details, not a substitute for the current applicable label. Crop, target disease, timing, rate, restrictions and preharvest interval must all match that label. Read its handling and personal-protective-equipment requirements in full; do not infer them from the figures above.

What should a U.S. grower check before use?

  1. Confirm the current label. Check the crop and target disease, permitted application timing and rate, restrictions, preharvest interval, protective equipment and first aid on the label that applies to the product in hand.
  2. Check state registration and restrictions. Bayer says registrations and restrictions vary by state. Confirm local status before purchase or application; a federal label alone does not establish that use is available in every state.
  3. Fit the treatment into disease management. Consider the crop and disease on the label, application timing and resistance-management needs within an integrated plan. The presence of multiple FRAC groups does not by itself determine whether a particular treatment is appropriate.
  4. Ask a qualified local source when uncertain. Bayer’s launch announcement directs availability and use questions to a local Bayer representative; an agricultural-input dealer can also help locate current product information.

Bayer’s product materials and announcement are available at its product page and January 2022 launch announcement. The launch announcement describes the product as an evolution of Prosaro, but its performance statements remain Bayer’s claims.
